Are you the "fool" for arguing with the "fool" in public?....You percieve the person that you are arguing with as the fool....And if it is apparent to the public that they are in fact the bigger fool...Would it be a misconception to think that you are the fool for bothering with the arguement?

Kind of reminds me of some of the questions I've answered on here... *grin* If someone is quite obviously an idiot and proves it by opening his mouth (or posts something), I personally think it's still worth shooting him down, but it must be done with reason and fact, rather than just saying, "Shut up; we're all dumber for having listened to you." If you point out, politely, why they're so very wrong, it won't inflame them into further rants (unless that's the point of the exercise to begin with), and may actually teach them something. That, and while I do believe there are stupid questions, we've all asked them at one point or another, and there may be others out there who were under the same misconception as the fool who spoke up, and even if the speaker doesn't learn anything from the exchange, maybe one of them will.

I am the fool, and you may argue with me any time you like. But what does that make you?

Sometimes the ego to imagine that we are more than fools is what makes a fool of us all.

Well, I guess sometimes you just have to attempt to make contact, maybe Something will get through, right? I say, it's fair to give the fool an earful of what they deserve, then end it, and people will think what they may. Just don't get dragged in.

if you enlighten the fool, and the enlightenment is obvious, then the people will most likely only point the fool finger at the fool, if anybody, but if you dont enlighten the fool, you will probably both be classified as fools

The arguer is already a fool to be arguing with a fool.
