The upward trail of the line isn't important. It's the slope of the line extending to the outer area of you're hand that get's read.

Lines on the hands change and rejuvenate every 6 months or so. This because you change, and every decision you make in your daily life, affects everything you are including the lines on your hands. The fact that it happens more frequently on your right hand, is probably because it is your dominant hand i.e. the hand you write with. So now, you say you are not lucky, maybe what you should do is understand your strengths and if you wanted a palm reading do it only to help you getting a direction. First, I have one thing to say. Contrary to popular belief, your heart line DOES NOT SAY HOW MANY TIMES YOU WILL GET MARRIED. It is about your emotional life, not married life!
If your heart line curves in the upward direction, it means you are a passionate person. Generally, many people have heart lines that curve upward.

I read it meant being very fickle.
That was in one book though, my sister just recently got another book that says something different.
I cant remember though :P
