I have done this numerous times, I ask what is the nature of Al- Quaeda expecting lots of educated answers from conservatives, instead I get the 1 correct answer from a "liberal", I ask a question trying to explain the conservative ideology on taxes and none want to explain, why

What I am wondering is, that of all people that are qualified to answer questions about conservative fundamentals, it should be conservatives that answer, yet most of the time they shy away from questions like these, as if they don't understand their own ideology.

I greatly appreciate the answers given by conservatives with a brain, I am glad that some of you actually know what you stand for

Well, let's fix that. Al Qaida is simply a radical fundamentalist Islamic terrorist group dedicated to the destruction of America and our allies for backing the state of Israel and our own presence in the Middle East. Period. The conservative tax agenda favors lower taxes for the rich and corporations, the reason being that since it is the rich and corporation's money ,more than anyone elses, that drives the economy. The more money big business has after taxes, the more money they have to spend on labor costs, allowing them to hire more workers, and lets them put more money towards research and development, marketing, and distribution, which is needed to keep them competitive with foreign firms. This lowers unemployement, consumer cost, and encourages investment. It's as simple as that.

"I ask a question trying to explain the conservative ideology on taxes and none want to explain, why":
I've never noticed these questions. The majority of Conservative Republicans are for low taxes. This was first shown to work during the Reagan years and was called Reaganomics, in which he proved that the economy will increase as taxes decrease due to the fact that more people will have more money to spend and in turn there will be a larger amount of money circulating creating a more stable and larger economy.

The conservative ideology on taxes is as follows: Conservatives are against over taxation - we are not for limiting tax on the rich, and are for limiting the tax on the poor. The middle class (those who make over 29K per year) are responsible for the majority of taxes. Conservatives, as the name implies, believe that taxation should only cover the essentials in a society - roads, a standing military & government (not a Hamiltonian government - more of a combo between Washington and Jeffersonian - semi Federalist), and a solid infrastructure. Taxes should not be used for bailing out large corporations, or subsidising programs that dont work. We are for forms of welfare - but only to assist those that use it to get out of the situation that caused them to need it in the first place (and it can be done - my mom in law - 4 kids, dad left, no education, went to school for 2 yrs, got a nursing degree, now head nurse at Cedars in the Aids ward...).
Hope this helps. We are not anti-poor. Most of us were poor, but worked very hard to become successful, so dont like the govt taking what we have and telling us how theyre going to spend it. I donate over 20% per year & love doing it.
Bush is not a conservative. He's an idiot.

The Republican position on taxes can best be understood by researching the Laugher Curve. I suggest you read about it on your own to get a non biased explanation. It is in most college level economics text books. Did you know that every time the Federal government has cut taxes the next year Federal revenues went up? That shows you where we are on the Laugher Curve.
Most Republicans ideologically identify with Ronald Regan. Some don't give a rat's a** about most social issues unless you plan to use their tax dollars based on a political agenda.

Actually, I've asked several liberals what a "neocon" is and none have answered. I assume they're expecting an ambush (no pun intended) of some kind when all I want to know is the difference between a "neocon" and a regular conservative. Either no one seems to know or they just won't tell me. I need to know if I am one or not so I can tell whether or not it's an insult, knowing, of course, that their aim is for it to be an insult.

Is this what it takes to be a strong Republican?
1. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.
2. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.
3. Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.
4. "Standing Tall for America'" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India.
5. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.
6. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.
7. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.
8. Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless you someday run for governor of California as a Republican.
9. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.
10. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money.
11. HMOs and insurance companies have the interest of the public at heart.
12. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.
13. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.
14. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.
15. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is Solid defense policy.
16. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.
17. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.
18. You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.
19. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.
20. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

Because most of the people on Yahoo! Answers are uneducated in politics. They blindly follow whoever their parents vote for. Occasionally you run into somebody who knows what they're talking about, but it's rare.

geeze...ok.....lower income taxes / property taxes...equal more money in people's pockets....that means more money to spend which means higher gains in sales taxes / more jobs and more people paying taxes which really means the government gains more money not less and it's those who work......that the money belongs to....not the government anyway. simple enough......the nature of al-quaeda......anything to gain what they want for themselves and nothing to everyone else....basically liberalism.
