- have fun, but don't drink too much - especially if you have a 9am class the next morning. There will be a lot of parties.

- The dorms usually suck in that they are small and crowded. Plus my first year of school, someone thought it would be fun to pull the dorm fire alarms at like 4am when it was raining. You will have to put up with a lot of immaturity like that. However, you may also end up meeting some of your best friends there.

- Go to class, even if they don't take attendance. It will help you in the long run and you won't have to study as much for the exams.

- Get involved in some kind of club or other school activity. You will get to meet a lot of people that way, and it will look good on your resume.

- Take advantage of opportunities for free food and other free stuff. This is crucial to college existence. Attend club meetings just to get a free piece of pizza! Look out for events like Welcome Week, Greek Week, and Homecoming to get the most free stuff.

- Get to personally know your teachers and talk to them after class. This will come in handy when your score is on the border of two letters grades because they will often round you up. It is also really useful when the time comes where you need letters of recommendation.

1. Be a good roomate. This is the one thing that can truly make a person's college experience miserable.
2. Take it seriously. You're spending a lot of money for an education. Spend it wisely.
3. Have fun and experience things, but don't get lost in the party scene. Bad things start happening when lots of alcohol and drugs are involved with irresponsible people.

The MOST important thing I can stress (especially for girls) is

DO NOT GO CRAZY AND LOSE YOUR MIND

College should be fun, but so many girls go to college and lose their mind and after a semester or 2 always end up going back home pregnant, drugged up, liquored up, flunked out, turned out, and/or lose all focus from their goals in life, or just lost all hope.

The key to remaining in college is to do your work, get an internship, and party when you have the time to do so. Some colleges have parties Thurs-Sun so it's not like you're going to miss anything.

If you get anything out of college it should be balance.

Before you go, sit down and make a college plan. Why are you going to college, and why are you going to this particular college out of all the colleges in the world. What types of organizations are at this college, Sororities, Fraternities, Campus organizations, etc. What is your after college plan for life? How is going to college going to help you get there? What is the one thing I need to help me go to class when I am sad, lonely, unhappy, feeling unwell, or disappointed. Make a diary to go with your plan so you can track your progress. Set up a schedule for study, eating, enjoyment, and pursuing college. Remember why you are going to college every day. A small pamphlet entitled " How to succeed at college" or something like that is available somewhere. Send e-mail to lbloom60@aol.com and they might be able to find a copy for you. I think it cost about $4.00

here's a searious answer. find a study group. parties are fine, but there comes a time when you realize finals are only hours away and all you did so far is party, party, party... well you get the picture. for some of the tougher classes and more cunning professors try to make your own test bank, to use as a study guide. good luck.

As far as parties they are totally over rated. Remeber the reason you are there..for an education. Don't blow off studying or hw for parties or friends because in the long run when you are taking classes over because you failed them you will regret it. Have fun and get an education at the same time!

Don't get into debt.
Do not sign up for all of the credit cards they offer you on campus.
You may think you need them, but you don't and you will regret it later when you're broke and trying to pay them off.
