less is usually best !!!

only use base/liquid make-up on problem areas,,,,,,which means you have to get a good match

the most helpful advice I ever got was to put eyeliner underneath your eyelashes instead of eye lid.

mascara always wipe excess on tissue before applying then apply one coat to full lashes and second coat to just the tips.

eye shadow and lipstick very pale barely noticable colors.

If you're young, assuming you have natural beauty,I would say use thin fon-de-tennes with UV protection and if your skin is oily then a powder afterwards.
If your lips are too thin use lipsticks which aren't shiny. If your lips are thicker you can use shiny lipsticks.
I you have big eyes, then using dark eye liners is OK,but if your eyes are small, you better use light colors in the eye area and use the mascaras which will make your eye lashes look longer.
If you're not pleased with your nose, you can do a little shadowing by using a darker powder. For instance,if your nose bone is too thick, you can make it look thinner by putting very thin lines at the both sides of your nose with a darker tone.If you put the darker tone on the tip of your nose , it will make your nose look raised.
After shaping your eyebrows, you can use a little eye brow make up with the right color of an eye brow pencil.
Always clean the make up thoroughly before going to bed so that your skin won't get any damage or won't age earlier than it will normally.

The most important is to properly cleanse your face. Dove's moisturing face cleanser is a great place to start. Otherwise your makeup will be blotchy.

After you've cleansed your face, put on a good moisturizer and let it soak in for a couple of mins. Then use a concealer dabbed on with a small paint brush to cover any zits or scars.

Using a slightly damp makeup sponge, dab on your base and smooth it. Dust lightly with a little loose powder to set it. Then use a loose powder brush to apply your blush. Use a little of your blush on the outside corners of your eyelids to tie the look together.

Apply 2-4 shades of eye shadow, with a light color working up from the inside corner of your eye to your eyebrows, the sweep it across the top of the eye right below the brows. Then sweep a soft shade across your lid, just above the eyelashes, blend into the crease. Finally, sweep a little of a darker shade into the outer corners of the eye and crease to make it smokier looking and blend inward to the crease.

Line your lower eyelashes from the midpoint outward....don't go across the whole lower lash line or it looks goofy. Line your upper lid the whole way across in a warm brown. Apply 2 coats of mascara.

Use a little light brown eyeshadow to fill in your eyebrows and make them appear finished.

Line your lips with a soft pink liner, then fill in with a soft pink lipstick.

Whatever you do, don't use your fingers to put on makeup because the oils in your fingertips will contaminate the makeup and you'll end up with zits.

Also remember that you can always add more color, but it's harder to take it away or tone it down.

TEN EASY STEPS:

PREPARATION: WASH UR FACE , DRY IT & APPLY A TONER{IF U HAVE OILY SKIN,PLZZZ APPLY ASTRINGENT}.LET IT DRY ON ITS OWN. RUB AN ICE CUBE ALL OVER UR FACE & NECK.THIS HELPS UR MAKEUP TO STAY LONGER, MOISTURIZE. THEN FOLLOW THESE 10 SIMPLE STEPS:

1. Apply a concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation. Dot it on over any blemishes or under-eye circles and blend with your fingertips or a makeup sponge. If your concealer tends to cake, apply eye cream first.

2. Choose foundation that matches your skin tone exactly. Apply it in dots over the central part of your face, then blend it out with a makeup sponge or your fingertips until it covers your entire face (see Related eHows).

3. Use a loose or pressed powder to keep foundation and concealer on longer. Use pressed powder to touch up when you're away from home.

4. Do your eyebrows next. Use powdered eyebrow shadow on brows instead of pencil, which can often look unnatural. Apply it with a hard, slanted brush.

5. Choose three colors of eye shadow: light, medium and dark. Use the dark only to line your upper eyelid, in a fairly thin line along the upper lashes. Use the medium shade for the crease and the lightest shade for the area under the eyebrow. There are many variations on eye shadow application techniques (see Related eHows).

6. Apply eyeliner. Use a cake eyeliner with a damp, thin liner brush, or an eyeliner pencil, and line the lower lid below the lashes. Line only the outer two-thirds of the lower lid, or all the way across if you're trying to achieve a darker look. Line all the way across the upper lid (just above the lash line and as close to the lashes as possible), or start the line where your lashes begin.

7. Apply mascara to upper and lower lashes, in two thin coats to avoid clumpiness. Choose brown mascara if your coloring is fair; black or brown-black works well for darker coloring. Or try a colored mascara such as navy or plum for fun, but don't go too bright if you want to be taken seriously.

8. Smile to find the apples of your cheeks, and apply blush to the apples or below, whichever you prefer. If you have to blend in blush, it's too bright.

9. Choose a lipstick color that's suited to your skin tone and that's perfect for your day look. You can mix colors and textures to suit your moods and your outfits (see Related eHows).

10. Line lips after applying lipstick, not before. That way you won't end up with a dark circle of lip liner after your lipstick has worn off. Avoid combining very dark lip liner and pale lipstick.

Well just to let ya know if u have any questions about makeup or style just ask me because i am a makeup artist/style consultant.

First:

Make sure u pick the right one for your skin type oily, normal, combination, etc

Second:

First make sure u have the right color that blends in with your skin color, so u wont look to wild or anything.
make sure u have clean brushes, and make sure u clean you face with a facial mask or facial wash so that everything is clean and fresh, dont forget to mosisturize.

Third: Is get ready to apply here it is.

10. Line lips after applying lipstick, not before. That way you won't end up with a dark circle of lip liner after your lipstick has worn off. Avoid combining very dark lip liner and pale lipstick.

Other Tips:

Choose brighter or darker tones for a stronger look.

Clean makeup brushes by gently washing them in warm water and mild gel shampoo. Air-dry them overnight.

Don't skimp on makeup tools. High-quality tools make application easier and faster.

If you decide to curl your eyelashes, do this just before applying mascara'never after. Insert your eyelashes into the curler, squeeze just once, and hold for a few seconds.

I hope that helps.

It'd probably be better to go into a store where the people can teach you. Definitely a better learning technique than reading tips online with NO pictures. Try any makeup counter in a department store, they are usually HAPPY to help.

1. clean face
2. MOISTURIZE! (everyone always forgets this crucial step)
3. foundation- pick a color that matches your face and neck so there wont be that noticeable makeup line at the jaw
4. Concealer (only on problem areas- pimples, under the eyes, etc)
5. powder (sets it in)
6. blush- smile, and sweep it from the biggest part of your cheeks to your hairline, diagonally. a little goes a long way! try peach tones for summer
7. eyes-
a. shadow- lightest shade under brows (ps- nicely shaped, well defined brows go a long way to making your face look better)
- medium shade from lash to slightly above crease
- darker shade in crease
b. liner-try from about halfway to the outer corner, on top and bottom. pretend youre trying to color in the base of your lashes
(* try using shades that are on the opposite side of the color wheel from your eye color. ex- blues for brown eyes. really makes your eyes pop. purple makes my brown eyes look more honey-colored)
c. mascara- start at the base of the lashes and wiggle the brush to the tips of the lashes- 2 coats
8. lips- skip the liner! experiment with different lipstick and gloss shades. shades with a blue undertone will make your teeth look whiter. again, peach is a really hot color for summer.

have fun with it! experiment! but dont put on too much...summer means lighter, fresher faces!

For a day time look go for the less is more concept. Lose powder, lite peachy blush, maybe a lite eyeshadow, and mascara. For a nite look go for the more is better. Low lites means more makeup. Use foundation & powder, a darker blush, darker eyeshadow, and use eyeliner & mascara. No matter what time of day use earthtones for your eyeshadow. Earthtones look great on everyone. Just apply them lite or dark depending on what your doing and what your wearing.

Hope this helps..... asking for makeup tips will get you a range of answers.
