~A balanced multi-faceted life and personality. If you find them mutually exclusive, it's no wonder you are melancholy.

What is imagined becomes real if we work to make it so. Without imagination and dreams nothing happens. Imagination is the mother of Reality. What should i value more, the mother or the child? And the child grows up to be a dreamer who invents more reality. Imagination is our power to change the future, to create from nothing all that is. What is Imagination without Reality? There would be no point to it. A dreamer who doesn't work is no earthly good to anyone and a realist who doesn't dream is powerless to make any worthwhile changes in this world. Besides, they are the same thing, Reality and Imaginative only one is what WILL BE created and the other what WAS created. Do I value more the painting or the painter? Hmmmm......tough question because if it wasn't for the painting i would have never known of the painter who painted it.

I would say a little bit of both leaning more toward a strong sense of reality becuz people with just a vivid imagination usually turn out to be psychos. But with a lil bit of both I think it evens the score a little bit and allows a break from the reality of life and allows the mind to relax a lil, but then when its crunch time you can get back into the swing of things with no problems.

a vivid, imaginative life is more rare imho than the strong sense of reality. I value that because whereas the strong sense of reality makes a reliable person who gets stuff done, a vivid imagination thinks up the stuff the other does :-)

a vivid imagination. Reality sucks. With a vivid imagination, anything can become what ever you want. Obviously if you always live in your imagination you will end up in the loony bin. But a great imagination can take you away for a while with out having to actually leave.

A vivid, imaginative life is only as good as the strong sense of reality one has to use as an anchor.

It is good to have the sense of reality, but not so strong. It may turn in something else, dangerous for the others (mercantilism is just an example). And a very imaginative life is insanity. Personal opinion: imaginative is better.

A vivid, imaginative life is more valuable. That is how the best inventions came to be. People used their minds and imagined the concepts of electricity, phones, computers, etc. My reality is strong enough for me.

i think they're both so interlinked that you cannot part the two. a strong sense of reality is impossible without the occasional imaginative spree. how would you tell the difference if you only indulged in one of these? my preference though is for a vivid, imaginative life - but i do value reality, even if simply to offset the value of my imagination.

vivid, and imaginative! the opportunities are endless. so many avenues to explore! i once knew a very creative person that was diagnosed with a mild bi-polar disorder, mostly dealing with mania. when medication was suggested, and administered, this person felt like the positive "edge" was taken off. creativity fell. some of the greatest inventors and discoverers in history HAD to have a vivid imagination in order to create our modern marvels. good question, though. we do still need those reality based people to help keep the vivids tethered down!
