They suffered terribly from Hurricane Katrina, but that doesn't mean the government (and taxpayers) have to give them tons of money. If they had insurance, they're fine. If they didn't have insurance, then it's a shame, but they had bad luck, and it's not my fault.

More practically, I'd say "Don't build a city under sea level near the water!" And don't re-elect morons to your city (and state) government. And don't expect others to bail you out. It's nobody's fault that a hurricane caused such damage. It's not your fault, and it's not mine. Get on with your lives.

There was lots of private charity for them, and voluntary donations to help them, which is very good. But that's different from using taxpayer money. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say "nothing bad will ever happen to you."

It's been over ten months; get on with your lives and stop whining about Katrina. I'm sick of hearing the same old crap; everywhere I go, I have to listen to someone telling his or her own Katrina story. I stopped telling mine a long time ago. I got on with my life. I wish the rest of this city would do the same.

Now that you got all of the ******* out, dont let them back in. In one day after the police force was done away with they were raping, killing, and robbing each other like animals. To bad they have moved to Houston now...(My car has been broken into twice since Katrina for the first time in my three years of living here in Houston)

New Orleans could use new leaders. People that can plan ahead and implement those plans. Since this kind of disaster can happen again I hope that New Orleans has an evacuation plan that is workable on a fast and timely basis.

Do not rebuild it. It's in a bad spot and will be hit again by another hurricane sooner or later.
Pull it down and build instead a new city in a safe location.

Let's look at pouring millions of dollars into a good levy and Dike system like the Dutch have so these things will not happen. But, we are too cheap to do that, so guess what, it's going to happen again one day.

Stop being selfish and stop killing and robbing and raping one another. Stick together and rebuild your homes, help rebuild those who cannot help themselves. Help one another out and just be friendly. I know times are tough but you can't bring force, anger, or hate into the picture because the picture is already so fuzzy. Help one another make it clear again.

Move the city to higher ground. If they rebuild in the same place, it's going to happen all over again.
