Some scientists have described the universe as being like the screen on pac man. Once you reach the end, you pop buck up at the beginning.

Think about the earth. You are in it. Would you be able to reach the end? No, because it is a sphere. So, the universe. Everything in the universe takes that shape (sphere) Time which is a property of the physical world is cyclical like a sphere. The parados is that the universe is finite. Why? because matter cannot be created. It only transforms. (Law of conservation of matter/energy.)

Dude! Here is a simple illogical threoy.
The universe in every angle is just chance. It will never end bang it just happens but the earth will have an end maybe not all living things though?
Think about there are 25 quiltten stars imange each one having a planet when we have 9? there is no end just to your life that you have now!

Radio astronomy and mathematical calculation tells us that the Universe is not infinite, just extremely large and expanding. Outside the Universe is just empty space. There is no "other side" to the Universe.

This brings us to the concept of infinity. You have already answered your first question in your second question. "If there is an end, what is on the other side?" There is NO END...period. It is hard for us to understand the concept of infinity, as well as time. Newtonian physics only apply to earth. Time travel is a possibility, not a fantasy. Time warps and sheets of the universe bend time as well. Not to digress, the answer to your question is: There is NO END to space that we currently understand it.

The universe is everything. That is the basic concept. Although some say the universe is expanding, but where?. So I guess we really don't know what the universe really is or where it ends.

The Universe is finite, however Space is tied up with the Universe, so there can't be anything on the other side, theoretically.

The same question can be posed about our death. Everything in Universe are changing. When Science speak about an end, it is referring a critical change so that what we call Universe will not exist as before. So is with death. After your death, a critical change, you will not exist as before. Human being has not a clear answer about what will be after death, that is here, very near, so it impossible to say what will be Universe after its death.

Einstein addressed this with his theory of the curvature of space, He used for example the surface of a sphere. It is finite, but unbounded.
This is not the same thing as infinite, but it does mean you could keep moving and never apparently come to an end.

There is nothing beyond "the end". The best theory says THE BIG BANG is forcing matter to expand outward. Eventually gravity will bring it all back together for another BIG BANG.
