First of all you may need to see a physician. In the mean time you can try these things:

Stop constipating medicines.

Answer the call of nature. The longer stool stays in your bowel, the drier it gets.

Increase your liquid intake. Your stool gets harder and harder to pass when its water content decreases. Coffee can also help relieve constipation.

Increase roughage and bulk in your diet -- fruits, green vegetables, whole grains, bran, and medicinal bulk agents like psyllium or hemicellulose preparations.

Use stool softeners like Colace(docusate sodium) -- as directed to have a soft, controlled bowel movement.

Do not use stimulant laxatives or enemas. Milk of magnesia should be your most powerful laxative. And remember, laxatives and enemas empty out about three days worth of stool. So don't expect to have another movement for four or five days.

Some physicians recommend sitting on the toilet routinely every day until the urge comes, even if it takes quite a while, and doing some exercise like walking beforehand.

I hope the best for you!!
