Okay, I am pregnant with our second baby, and we have two cats. I am really afraid of toxoplasmosis because it is a nervous disorder that unborn children can contract by the mother cleaning or being around cat feces. My husband knows about this and the effects it can have on our unborn child.....

I already said that I am about 8 weeks pregnant and the smell makes me really queasy and miserable. My husband always makes a big deal about cleaning it out and says that I am being a pain in the ***.

This morning I woke up at about 6:00 to the smell and it was so bad I couldn't even stay in my bed, I very nicely asked him if he would take care of it for me so that we could go back to sleep and he argued with me over it for nearly 10 minutes and then cussed and got up and made a huge deal about it. What I don't understand is why he is being such a jerk about it, I would do it for him, and I took care of it 90% of the time before I got pregnant the second time. What do you guys think?

That is rediculus. I dont even know what to say. He apparently doesn't think that it's that important. or maybe he thinks that nothing will happen to his unborn child. It doesn't make it right at all, i'm just trying to figure out why someone wouldn't just say that they will do it. I know that this probably wouldn't be the best thing to do but next time ask him flat out "Don't you care about our child enough to do this SMALL task for me?" I don't know if this would help but if you don't already have them they have Kitty litter liners that way you don't have to get too close to it you can just tie up the bag and toss it and it's healthier for the cats as well. Maybe that will give him less of an arguement towards you. Hope i've helped.

He is being an ***, does he actually understand the possible risks? Tell him if he wont take care of it in a timely fasion (b-4 the smell permiates everything in the house) that you are POSITIVE his Mom, or yours will gladly come over and help do it. The sheer embarassment should make him do it. That worked when my ex did it to me. Is he completely lazy, or is it just the cats? If so, are they yours and he hates them? Either way the Mom factor or even a close friend of his, preferably someone he respects should work.

Ask him if he wants his child to be born deaf or blind? I worked at an Animal Hospital when I was first pregnant with my daughter. She was born deaf and there was no genetic disorder in either family. Either god gave me her because he knew I could handle it or it was effects of toxoplasmosis. I was very careful not to mess with the litter box with my second child. I don't know for sure that toxoplasmosis caused her to be deaf but it is a possiblity.

i thinks that's just plain rude of him... but as we know men have no concept of the things we go threw.. physically, and emotionally... pregnant or not! you are carrying his child and if that's something he needs to do for you ,he should just " shut up" and do it! it really shouldn't be any big deal! did you explain to him about the possible disorder the unborn child could get? that right there should be enough for him to understand.... if your child gets born with that then he would feel guilty the rest of his life... emptying the cat box for the next 7 months wouldn't kill him!

Just promise him something really special after the child is born. It should be something he always wanted you to try but you wouldnt. Now im not saying you gotta live up to it later
