I've always wanted to be a stuntguy. You get to do dangerous and fun stuff, and you still get credit in the movie for it. Most people understand that a very small portion of actors (up until recently) do their own stunts.

I think it works out well for both parties. First though, let me start by saying a lot of actors (Jackie Chan for example) do their own stunts.
The actor likes ACTING. They like reading lines and blocking and interacting with the other actors. That is cool. They don't really want to swing off of a helicoptor or drive a Mustang doing 180 MPH.
The stuntperson (chicks too!) probably is more of an adreneline junkie. They dig jumping off of bridges, being set on fire, and yes, driving Mustangs at 180 MPH. They probably feel the acting stuff is boring.
So it works out. Do what you love and love doing it. Then you'll aways be happy :)

I don't know, it could be a way to get a start in stardom.
They are at least closer than some aspiring actor.
Some people don't care either, they are in it for the money.
I'm sure they get paid a nice amount, 'stunt double' is not exactly a common profession.
I'm also willing to bet that they have a lot of bragging rights.

Hey it gives the stunt man work and that's what the stunt person has chosen as a profession so I imagine they're pretty happy that there are actors who don't want to do their own stunts.

I had a friend some time back that did stunts in movies. He loved it. He got paid for it and also his name appears in the credits of the movies. He did not want fame. Only to work in movies. He met a lot of movie stars and got a lot of autographs. He enjoyed what he did, and he never got hurt. When he got too old, he retired. He use to tell my mom and dad of all the places he went to, the countries he was able to visit, and that he got paid for doing it too!

If fame and money are your only concerns, then yes, it would really suck to be a stuntman. But I don't think they're just in it for the money. After all, there are plenty of other jobs that make good money, so why bother with the whole danger part?
I think they really enjoy their jobs.

i agree with you
if i was an actress i would like to do my own stunts, but it depends on what the stunt was, like say i was terribly afraid of heights and i had to jump off of a building and land on that air bag thing. for that i would have a stunt double.
but i would like to give credit to my stunt double, and not let them remain basically nameless

Stuntmen get paid fairly...and the actors get richer because they're the ones who bring in the paying public.

I don't think it would be a bummer. It's the work field they've chosen. Stuntmen enjoy being daredevils and they can get paid for it. I think it would be pretty cool.
