What is the record amount of hurricanes or typhoons in one season? If they name them in the order of the alphabet, which hurricane has the highest alphabetical value? (if one can put it that way). If there have been more than 26 hurricanes in a season, do they start with the letter "A" again?

The whole alphabet is NOT used in one year on the list of hurricane names. In the Atlantic, the names go up to W, skipping letters like Q and U along the way. After W, they go to the Greek alphabet WITHIN THE SAME HURRICANE SEASON. Once the season is over, they go to the next list of names predetermined for that year.

Last year's record of 27 named storms, up to "zeta" in the greek alphabet was the most named storms for a season in recorded history.

In the Pacific, the whole alphabet is often used since more named storms are common there...the list of names goes to "Z" alternating Zeke and Zelda.

There's no such thing as "alphabetical value" concerning hurricanes.

Names used for 1953-1959
In 1953 and 1954, one list was repeated for use, starting with the letter A. Female names were used and names starting with X and Y were only added in 1954 (and removed in 1956 along with names starting with Q and U). From 1955 there was no permanent set list and new names were drawn up every year. This continued until 1959, when a semi-permanent list of four became effective in 1960. The names Hazel (1954), Connie (1955), Diane (1955), Ione (1955), Janet (1955), Audrey (1957), and Gracie (1959) were retired from these lists.

I think in recent times they have decided to go up to W and then move onto the Greek alphabet. There was a Z name last year, but only because 'Zeta' is the sixth letter of the greek alphabet.

Every year they start over again with the letter "A". Yes, there has been a hurricane or typhoon that started with the letter "Z". There was a hurricane named Zeta.

Wow, you didn't pay attention at all last year. Last year they had either a tropical depression/storm that had a Z name. They went over the 26, so they started using the Greek Alphabet, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, etc.
