The xi series of printers are made particularly for Sams Club or Wal-Mart. The xi series usually only come with the black cartridge and you have to buy the color cartridge seperate. Also, to keep costs down, the xi series are usually made with cheaper parts. The normal 6310 will come full of ink, and will be made slightly better.

go to www.HP.com and look for the link to call or email HP tech support. Even out of warranty they will respond.
