Speaking as someone who has faithfully followed this franchise since 1971, I believe they are!! They are focused, disciplined, and approach each game with a professionalism that has not been seen in the Motor City since they last one it all in 1984. Jim Leyland is a no-brainier for the manager of the year!!
Its a safe bet they will be in the playoffs come October. They have the talent to win the World Series, and I believe they can. It all depends upon how they handle the pressure of being in the national spotlight, as well as if their pitching can keep up the excellent work it has been doing so far this season! GO TIGERS!!

Yes, they are for real. They WILL NOT fall apart in the 2nd half!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Their pitching is stellar and thier offense is clutch.
They are better defensively.
Jim Leyland wont let that happen.
With a healthy Guillen, Pudge, and Mags we can go far.
Are they real enough to win the WORLD Series? I'd like to hope so...but in all reality I don't think so.
We have to get past The White Sox, they have the experience, we don't.
I believe that The Tigers will take the wild card, and I'd love to see The Tigers play The White Sox for the ALCS.
as another poster said we have a 3-10 record against "the big boys" and that is what scares me.
We also have 13 games against The World Champion White Sox....and those 13 games will determine who wins the Central.
If The Tigers play .500 ball the rest of the season that is good for 96 wins----and the wild card.
I BELIEVE!
GO GET 'EM TIGERS!

They're real, but they haven't shown they can beat the Big Boys in the AL yet. They're 3-10 against Chicago, Boston, and New York, and still have 13 games left with the White Sox, who can find any number of ways in any type of game to beat you.
The Sox have cut their lead back to 1 game with 77 to go for each. Minnesota will play a factor, but those 13 games will be huge.
And don't worry about the Red Sux. Their fate is sealed when they get swept by Chicago again in the playoffs.

If you'd asked me back in mid-May, I'd say wait a couple of months and see where we're at.
As of now... yes, they're the real deal. Will they win the World Series? If I had to put my money on a team, it'd be on one that can rest a little and not have to worry about being involved in an intense division/wild card chase. So I'd say the Mets are the favorite.

They are the real deal and they will win the World Series. They have the starting pitching to help them finish the regular season strong and take them deep into the playoffs. Their offense always seems to get it done with clutch hitting. The World Series usually comes down to starting pitching, and with Justin Verlander, Kenny Rogers, and Jeremy Bonderman, they have the best rotation in the majors.

they are the real deal, but they won't win the world series. They still have yet to prove that they can beat the team with the second best record in baseball. The white sox.
If they can do that, then they might have a shot.

The problem wit hthe Detrooit Tigers is that they are in such a strong division and could even finish 3rd in their division with the 3rd best record in the American Leauge. The central division is the top division but even if they make to the playoffs they don't have much expierence. I'd say that if they had one or two more veterans then they would be set but as of now I would say that they might not even make the playoffs.

Tigers are hott, they are for real, but, they will fizzle out in the 2nd half of the season. The Tigers have to go through the (White) Sox to make it to the World Series, and, the Sox are hott, too.

The Tigers are for real. Look for them to add a left handed bat at the trade deadline. They have the starting pitching, their bullpen is great and they have timely hitting. Leyland has these guys playing to their potential and they will make some noise in the playoffs
