why does the US like to show the flaws of other countries, I am african and you'll never see the positive aspects of african countries. All you see are malnourished kids, who are dying. When my family saw the Katrina thing on TV there, they thought that was Africa. Africa is a beautiful continent, and we have nice things there, so dont believe everything that is showned on TV, because It is 90% falso, Go to south africa, it's very nice, but all u see on tv are hoovervilles lookin like houses. I am so upset about it

To be brutally honest...the flaws are exactly what needs to be seen by people all over the world. I think people should be made aware of and be reminded of the continent they would rather forget about. This is what Bono is trying to do. Educate people everywhere and not only in America. It's true that they show things we don't need to see, like the inefficient ways of our government and police when it comes to crime and keeping the order. People also need to see the efforts that individuals like doctors and social workers are putting in.

The fact that Americans don't even help their own people should be a wake-up call to all of us. They are never gonna help Africa with all it's problems. We need to solve it ourselves, by making our own documentaries and educational programs. Create the jobs so people can be proud again. It's all up to us. The next time these ignorant people turn on their sets, they should see how we ourselves made the impossible possible.

Most of what you see on TV is such old footage as well, that you sometimes wonder where the cameras have been the past few years. And then you realize...war is more important these days.

Proud South African getting really upset now and signing out...cheers my beautiful people .

I was born in SA and grew up there in the early 80's. Unfortunately, I did witness some violence and lived in an area where there was some turmoil, but Africa is beautiful. I think sometimes the media is fueled by the least common denominator - people will only relate to what they know, so if they can understand mal-nutrition and hunger, then the media in the states will play to that and focus on issues like that. It is very biased and one-sided.

I am open minded and know of the rich beauty of Africa. I don't let some media hype stop me from visiting any place in the world.

The reason the US shows the flaws of other countries is because some people are constantly trying to make us feel guilty that we are successful and say it is our fault that there are problems in the world.

I know that Africa is a beautiful place with a lot of resources. Its precisely because it has everything readily avaliable that Africans had no need to develop as much as in places with harsher climates.

I agree with you! Its actually really annoying! We have more positive aspects in Africa than negatives. When people see malnourished kids we have companies in Africa raising millions of rands to help them. There is crime here in Africa but many, many people are standing strong together and even have started wearing a black ribbon to show that they stand strong together to fight against crime! (YOU magazine) Africa is a wonderful place and more people should come visit without negativity and see for themselves.
