I think one of the things that made him so popular is that he reached out to mainstream white kids and offered them a a taste of "Black style" rap music. Remember how Elvis was loved by so many kids and hated by their parents?Thats because their parents saw him as a white man bringing Black music to their kids, so many of them hated him for that. Eminem has taken a "black" thing and made it into an "everybody" thing. Kids love it, parents hate it . I think he has become one of the best at what he does, even though it was believed by many at one time that only blacks could "do" rap well.

People like him because of what he says in his songs. If you listen to the lyrics to his songs and compare it to other lyrics from other songs by other rappers, you will notice that Eminem talks about what really is happening with his life, instead of killing, sex, money, how rich they are, blah, blah, blah. Eminem is different that way, and a lot of Eminem fans like him because of that.
