Because you're not dressing to make your body show off its best features.

Go for deep V-necks, sweaters that cling to your body, skirts that are knee length or higher, and treat yourself to some sexy undergarments that make YOU feel good about yourself. Prop up the breasts, get your hair done and colored a shade lighter than natural, brighten your makeup, and let someone 10 years younger than you help pick out a few nice pieces for your wardrobe.

Cut out all scoop necked shirts/blouses. Unbutton the first 2 buttons on every blouse. No more black in your wardrobe...find some soft bronzes, coppers, greens, and terra cotta colors to perk up your color.

As we get older, we forget to change our look to something softer. So we wear things that look harsh and, in return, make us look old. Your skin color is fading, and so is your hair color. So go softer, lighter and brighter in the colors you surround yourself with and you'll look a lot better.

Also make sure you get a new hair cut...let the stylist know that you want something to make you look younger and perk up your appearance. Use a Dove moisturizing cleanser and put on a good moisturizer twice a day and again before you go to bed. No more soap (of ANY kind) on your face so that you don't get wrinkles. Also work moisturizers into your neck and your hands. Even a decent moisturizer or eye cream from the dollar store is a great way to start...don't need to spend big bucks on name brands.

For your clothes, try thrift stores. Half of my wardrobe comes from the Salvation Army Thrift store because I can get all the great looks for pennies. When I'm done with it, I donate them back and get the tax deduction. All the name brands are in there and I can have some fun looking through the racks for interesting pieces. Much better than scrounging through styles at retail stores that do nothing to make me look younger without looking like a teenage wannabe.

Unfortuantely, you gave us little information to work with. I am 34 and my mom is 53 (sorry, mom!) She is always mistaken as my sister instead of my mother. That being said, she is always asking me and other "young" family members about her outfits and looks. She just started wearing makeup a few years ago - I don't wear it at all and will probably wait until I am 45.

All of that to say it sounds like you need an image consultant. I don't know where you are located but you can find them through your local arts, entertainment, culture scene in your community. The local, trendy crowd uses them so go through their sections of your local paper or any other publications that may be available to you.

Good luck!

My mother too when through that stage and I had to re route her to totally but something she would not buy herself and see if anyone noticed!
They did and that was her break to a new fashion.
Your apparently in a rut and need to readjust.
take a day to just do clothes trying on different looks suttle and bold and don't be afraid of what others thing of the change it's clear you want too.
Please if you are the one that wears the matching outfits and it's the baby blue top and pants and other colors ohhhhhhh that is gotta go! Take a step into bold.
Let yourself go into another way of thinking if you look at clothes and say, "that's cute but"? stop saying "but" and try it on.

I am your age and I get your drift I think part of the problem is the new styles are so tight short and made for teens it is hard to find the "middle"between the Juniors and the old ladies so we are in the same boat.

maybe you need a total makeover. Change your hairstyle, try different make up and find colors that look the best on you. Take a friend along with you when you go shopping and make sure it is an honest friend who you trust. Finally, take more risk.

Get a makeover. I mean ... perhaps change the way you wear your clothes... or change your hair style. Spend some money on yourself and impress yourself. To get good clothes for that age, I would say hit the department stores and make sure you get quality brand names.... they will make you look good.

Are you a grandmother?? Perhaps that will answer your questions....

If you are going to dinner at 4:30 pm to get the 'early bird dinner special', then we'll know for sure.

maybe try wearing more "hip" clothing. tighter jeans are in nowadays. if your into the preppy scene, go shop at hollister or abercrombie, if your into the hardcore scene, go shop at places like Zumiez, and hot topic. and if ur into the punk scene, go shop at thrift stores.
