I think that you're a bit delirious. Why should anyone be surprised that the Yankees are only 3 back? Because Matsui and Sheffield are on the DL? Give me a break. Even with 2 key players injured this team is filled All-Stars. Did you happen to forget that this team has a payroll over $200 million? With the AL East being basically weak as always, Red Sox aside, it shouldn't be a major revelation that NY is in the playoff chase.

Consider the competition. The Orioles are AWFUL, the Devil Rays are pretty bad, and the Blue Jays are a ticking time bomb (most overrated team in MLB by far). Of course the Yankees are going to beat up on those teams.
It won't matter, though, if the wild card comes out of the Central...

I think after that happens, we have to play the White Sox, but not before playing the red hot devil rays, who were our achilles heel last year.
This race is going down to the wire. Something tells me it's going to be New York on top again. After all, if it were the Red Sox who lost their entire outfield and their second baseman and some key pitchers to the DL, do you think they'd be able to hang around?

I have been saying this all along. Any other team wouldn't stand a chance if they lost as many key players as we have.
I think we'll know a lot about the team by the end of this month.
My prediction....September will be a BIG month. Check out the schedule, were posed for it!
