Because people are so cynical and naive. These celebrities live with problem all the day of their life. take a minute to read the list of celebrities who have mock Jesus and died.
It is written in the Bible:
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man swath, that shall he also reap.”
Those who mocked God....
Make a personal reflection about this. Very interesting, read until the
end...
It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7): "Be not deceived; God is not
mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Here are some men and women who mocked God:
------------------------------------------------
JOHN LENNON:
Some years before during his interview with an American Magazine, he said:
"Christianity will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about
that. I am certain. Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today
we are more famous than Him" (1966).
Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus
Christ, was shot six times.
-----------------------------------------------
TANCREDO NEVES (President of Brazil):
Tancredo de Almeida Neves 1910-1985 Brazilian Banker &Politician
During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500 votes from his
party, not even God would remove him from Presidency.
Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.
-----------------------------------------------
CAZUZA (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet):
During a show in Canecno (Rio de Janeiro), whilst smoking his
cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: "God, that's
for you."
He died at the age of 32 of AIDS in a horrible manner.------------------------------------------------
THE MAN WHO BUILT TITANIC:
Thomas Andrew
After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the
Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said: "Not even God can sink it"
The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic.
------------------------------------------------
MARILYN MONROE:
She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He is a
preacher and Evangelist and the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to
her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said:
"I don't need your Jesus"
A week later, she was found dead in her apartment.
------------------------------------------------
BON SCOTT:
The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang:
"Don't stop me, I'm going down all the way, wow the highway to
hell".
On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked
by his vomit.
------------------------------------------------
CAMPINAS/SP IN 2005
In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend.
The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the
drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter - holding her
hand, who was already seated in the car: "MY DAUGHTER, GO WITH GOD AND MAY
HE PROTECT YOU",
She responded: ONLY IF HE (GOD) TRAVELS IN THE BOOT(trunk), COZ INSIDE
HERE IT'S ALREADY FULL"
Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal
accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized as to what type ofcar it had been, but surprisingly, the boot was intact.
The police said there was no way the boot could have remained intact. To
their surprise, inside the boot was a crate of eggs, none was broken.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that
was given so much authority as the name of Jesus. Many have died, but only
Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive. JESUS!!!
What benefit does it have, if a man gains the whole world but loses his
soul? What can man give in exchange of his soul? (Mathew 16:26)

God gives life. You are actively involved in a church(presumably fundamentalist of some flavor), and always have been, given the wording of your question. I agree with you that it is rude and pointless to live your life in such a pointless vicarious fashion as following a celebrity, and the benefit of following a positive role model. That said, I could throw out a notion of freewill and be done. Your question is great for people who like to preach to the choir. I believe that their is a callous arrogance in the way you have asked your question. Do you believe that you will be judged by the manner in which other people act? Are you doing anything wrong that you could be doing correctly? Do you feel yourself qualified to cast the stones? Why do fundamentalists scare away troubled souls? You need to provide an example people wish to emulate, not tell other people they are wrong for not having live the life you live, which got you to the point where you currently are. The Bible says many things, including how to treat other people. Your actions tell people more about your beliefs than your words ever shall do. Don't pull out a Bible and tell people how to act. Act properly and let people ask where you learned to act that way.

That's a good question. Unfortunately, I don't have the answer. I thinks it's just easier to follow someone that you can see rather than someone you can't. But I'm a believer, and I follow God in all three of his forms (the Father, Son and Holy Ghost), and I pray that others will do the same.

The celebrities, need cheers to perk them up,while Jesus wants allegiance for neighborly love which comes hard to come by.It is easy to cheer up for cheap publicity, and seek cheap love.
Ignorance for the provider of the food and other necessities of life the Jesus and false love for the celebrities is the distraction for the masses.

Unfortunately most people are doubters and, if it's not physically in front of them, they won't believe it. Humans rely on their senses too much (especially vision) and don't have faith even when the evidence is there.
I guess for most people it's easier to have a false prophet than to believe in the only one that is true.

I agree. I don't get it. I didn't become interested in famous people till I was nearly ten. But I was believing in Jesus since I was five.
