This question may come off as offensive, but I do not mean it to be at all. While I am no Grace Adler (Will & Grace), I do have several gay male freinds that I hang out with. I have watched their sexual behavior and listened to the wild things that they have told me and I can't help but be shocked at times. I feel like they have more sex with different men than anyone ever should. Perhaps its only my friends, but when I watch shows like "Queer as Folk", it only confirms my views. I don't know it just seems as if their whole world is defined by their sexuality. Again I am not trying to be offensive, just observant...

Well, there is no getting around this - I have had WAY more partners than any of my sisters or my girlfriends. I think it is the nature of being a MAN not being GAY.

You are only seeing part of the gay world. This is the part that is most public. It is the part you see in the gay bars and on TV. Let's face it sex sells. TV and the news media know this very well and exploit it greatly.

They is another world you don't see. The families at home playing board games, the couples snuggled up at home watching a movie, the so called sinners attending church. We all have to go to work and make a living as well as household chores.

Yes, many men have had sex with many other men. However I can assure you that the hetero world is the same way. Maybe not as blunt as some gay men are, but we are all human and crave the human touch.

So next time you see these friends, pull on aside at a time. Ask each one of them if they would not trade their one night stand in for one handsome, understanding, loving partner. I bet you see a different side to each of them. If you don't then maybe you need new friends.

First of all, I will repeat what someone said: look for non-promiscuous straight people on tv. They exist, but not frequently (and consider how many MORE of them there are for your perusal). Queer as Folk specifically is showing a very narrow slice of "gay culture". In some ways, more parts of my world are defined by my sexuality than there EVER should be, but that's out of my control. I'm talking here about hetero privelidge, and also the work I need to do to overcome that. Aside from that aspect, I think we're just people. If we want to be promiscuous, I think we have more people in our lives who will be judgemental about that, but I don't think it's fair to necessarily generalize. Some guys say "that's not gay guys, it's just men. Women are the only reason straight people don't do that as much; they wouldn't stand for it". To that I say: maybe. ish. But to say that that puts it out of my control is definitely too far. I think it's more likely that we've already been told that x part of our sexuality is WRONG, and we've had to overcome that. That means that in that process of overcoming, we have to question for ourselves whether the rest of it is accurate or not. IS promiscuity "wrong" (based on each individual's source of morality), or is that just another thing we believe because we've always been told? We are FORCED to question these issues, and so more of us probably end up rejecting the norms, because we see no reason to keep them.

I think that's a stereo type that people attach to all men. I mean let's look at it literally. Even straight men are perceived to have more sex than staright women. It's allowed. Hence the difference between a "stud" and a "slut", the only difference is gender. There are gay men who have sex with, what others would say , is way too many people, There are also straight men, lesbians, straight women, and bi-sexual individuals who do the same. It is just more "acceptable" for men to do it. But gay men get the same bad rap that straight women do when they sleep with a lot of different people.

Honestly I think they do it because they can.. after so many years of self repression a lot of gay men just explode into sexual beings...also I think they are promiscuous because they really need a sense of acceptance..of being wanted (because the world continually throws negatives at them). I know that this is just a superficial viewpoint but it seems to me to have some truth...Oh, and by the way I am a gay male.
But these are only the gay men you obviously see...there are many of us who lead everyday lives and are not into the wild scenes.

There are two types of gay men when it comes to thier sexual activities. First the gay man who loves his partner and enjoys the safety of a relationship. Then thers the gay man who can't get enough. He feels like a sex king on the prowl for other gay men to share experiences with. I prefer a nice thick cock, and that really get s me going. I love a man who is aggressive and takes what he wants from me and forces himself on me.

..and what you observe is certainly an aspect of the gay lifestyle. However you wouldn't observe those who are monogamous (they make for dull TV)...
