You have rights. First there should be a verbal, which sometimes doesn't happen. Then you have a written notice. Then you can still stay and make them take you to court. Then you will have your court date. The judge will give you a certain amount of time then you have to leave. You can make this a long drawn out process.
Look on the web for tenat rights for your state. I am not sure if this process works in all states.

Well you have 3 days to pay or forfeit your rent. If you do not pay or vacate the house within 30 days they can evict you and that usually takes another 30 days.

Call your state's Attorney General. There may be different rules for your state. In NY, the eviction notice must come from a court to be valid. Your AG will be able to give you more info.

As a rule (USA), eviction notices have to be given at least 30-days in advance.
