The Temple of the Alligator God near Fayoum Oassis in Egypt ... way out in the middle of nowhere, full of three-inch tomb wasps, with drawings of alligator-headed men and ibis-headed women. No towns, no Egyptians, no cars, no plants ... just a granite and sandstone 20-foot high building with columns lying all over the ground. Real spooky, especially when the wind gets up.
Or maybe it was the hash.

The spookiest place I ever went was the Colosseum at night. It was illegal, but I have my ways. I spent a night there. New moon, so it was dark as Egypt. Cats all over the place, many noisy.

But the spooky part was being in the lower levels where they held the prisoners, the animals and the gladiators.

After awhile, I could HEAR them. The moans of the sentenced, the whines and roars of the big cats, the clatter and clank of armor. I could SMELL them. The muskiness of agitated felines, the rank odor of fear. The unwashed bodies of the doomed.

I'da given Bill Gates' fortune to get outta there, but I had to wait 'til they opened in the morning. Then I had to hide out until I could sneak out. As I said, it's illegal and jail in Rome didn't exactly seem a fun thing to experience. On the other hand, neither was my night in Ancient Rome's bloodiest monument.

My Subconcious...
All joking aside, the strangest place I've ever been to has to be the Milk Bar in New York City. Odd place based off the Clockwork Orange. Of course that was 10 years ago.

Don't go to alleys in Sankt Petersburg, Russia. Aside from the fact that alleys are creepy to begin with, these are filled with homeless people, and the worst feeling is knowing that you can't really do anything for them except give them some change. But then again, a good deal of them spend it on booze and cigarettes anyhow.

My basement, I get a strange feeling when I go down there, like a presence. It's like there's a tomb underneath the concrete.
