I see several farms offering both turf and sod. Is there really a difference?

I called Jade Run Sod and Turf Farm in Vincentown, NJ and got my answer - They are the same thing per the employee you answered the phone!

Not really, they are the same thing, unless the turf is artificial such as on a playing field.

turf: A surface layer of earth containing a dense growth of grass and its matted roots; sod.

Well, there is an old British joke that says the difference between turf and lawn is 300 years of labor . . .

as far as i know turf is lawn that is capable of being laid down from a roll and a sod is like a divot that is the type of grass doesn't like being rolled
