Well, I think equality between men and women is more about EQUALLY respecting each other, you cant mix that up with being equal in every sense otherwise you would have to enforce childbirth on men (and Im sorry, but that trumps everything else you can come up with!)

Men are physically stronger and they so certain jobs better than woman, and there are some jobs that women do better than men. people get too bogged down in it all, as a woman I dont think theres anything wrong with admitting that.

We should celebrate our differences.

I don't think that it is necessarily about having equality, but merely having the option of equality. If a woman was capable and willing to lay tarmac or work in a coal mine, shouldn't she be able to? If a man or woman wants to retire at a set age, shouldn't they be able to? I mean really, enforced retirement ages are stupid, it's like saying that everyone is at the same physical and mental stage at exactly the same age. I know 60 yr olds that can't walk up the stairs and a 96 yr old that still walks two miles each way up and down a sharp inclined hill every week to do his own shopping.

Equality isn't wanted, the option to be equal - is!

Good question! I don't know why the retirement ages are different . Women do live longer that men statistically. On the tough jobs like coal mines and road work. There are some women that do work those type of jobs and it sounds bad to say that it is mans work as a lot of women are more than capable of doing it but It don't appeal to a great many women ( or men for that matter ) as a rule and it is a tough rugged unforgiving job that takes a certain type of person and for good or bad it's usually a man

Men and women have never been equal. Equality refers to opportunity, not reality. Women have always been superior in many ways to men. They work hard, they usually have a higher threshold of pain, most can multi-task rings around men, usually outlive them, and control about 90 percent of the finances in the world.
Men on the other hand are stronger, more aggressive, more focused and more competitive. Men's jobs run the gamut from physical labor to management. We fiercely protect our family, our possessions, and our ideals; and we are willing to sacrifice our lives to protect them.
Retirement ages should not be different for men and women. Some jobs do seem more suited to men than women, but that doesn't mean that a woman cannot do that job. While men may take on working on a coal face, if that will support his family; a woman might think that waitress-ing may be more suitable to her needs. Neither is an easy job, they're hard back breaking work.

I'm I woman and I have to agree with you there partially, women live longer by quite a big margin generally, you go into any residential home and you will find they are around 85-95% old women. So probably the retirement age should be lower for men than women. On the other hand you have to consider that old people generally spend many years suffering from ill health, because GPs are hell-bent pumping them full of life-preserving drugs to keep them out of hospitals, which don't keep them healthy but give them extra years of ill health and have a greater effect on women. So both sexes probably start getting old at the same time, but women can expect more years of lonely house-bound old age. It's not really their fault they live longer, and if you made women work longer than men you might find more were forced to work after they were physically unable to. As for the mining/tarmacking, women are generally smaller and less strong, and on top of that would face harassment/questions about their femininity doing these sort of jobs.

Lets get rid of this "Having a baby" thing first, they keep throwing that at us as if its a big deal!
It's actually no more difficult than having a cra*!
Women have babies while working in the rice fields and strap the kid on their back and carry on working, so nothing to it.
Plus it is a well known fact that women don't have the mental capacity equal to men , some thing to do with brain size ! They also all seem to have this sentimental inbuilt thing and cry at the least little thing, my wife turns on the water works whenever I give her a kicking! But if I cried whenever a woman 'set about' me I would be crying all the time, they always seem to pick on me, I cant understand why??
Hope this helps???

You're thinking of absolute equality. To attain that we would all have to be the same size , look alike, do exactly the same thing etc, etc, etc.
Political equality is a means of making sure that one sex does not grab it all at the expense of the other.
If you believe that women should mine coal or build roads in order to be equal, shouldn't men have to give birth to babies ?

We are equal under the law. You don't have to take it literally. of course we're not completely equal, we're an entire different species at times!

We are equal under the law, and should be treated equally. ex, you shouldn't employ a man over a woman because he's a man. You should employ whoever is more qualified.

Oh, and don't say there are no women doing hard manual labor, that is completely wrong.

Equality is just a state of mind; temp lapses! You see many expectant mother's but never any men giving birth. That's EQUALITY in reverse LOL

I suggest that you read a few books.

Try 'Sex and War' by Stan Goff. He has a blog as well. http://stangoff.com.

Oh, and 'Refusing to be a Man' by John Stolenberg.

We must all reject the gender roles and sex binary that we are boxed into at birth. Until this is done, equality among the sexes (and there are more than two!) will not be reached.
