Yeah, but does anyone remember the French Indian war? They weren't as friendly to American back then. Ohh and how about the little thing called WW2. If it was not for the Americans they be speaking German. So the question is how far do you want to go back into history?? How about Napoleon? The truth is that all countries had their up and downs. But it is also a fact that it is NOT only the Americans that today have grievances with the French. Even the other members of the EU are disappointed in the French gov..

Of course we know That. But , "why" should be The answer you would be looking for. For that answer you have to know that France and England had been fighting th 100 year war for about 100 years and France had hopes that if we could defeat the English or prolong the war then we would weaken England and make the dominance of North America a French deal. Oh yea by the way France also backed the confederacy for the same reason they wanted to dominate N. America. The thing that won our Independence was not the French though it was the new guerrilla tactics we learned fighting Indians that won it for us. Thank God.
