I have to disagree with the poster Teri E. I don't believe Star is kicking and screaming that ABC and "The View" has fired her. From the way I see it, it was ABC including Barbara Walters, wanting Star to stick around a little bit after she was told that she was fired, so Star could search for another job and make up a reason why she was leaving the show to her audience.
Star has held to Christian beliefs in the past. Lying and being deceptive goes against those beliefs. Her decision to come clean with her audience and tell them why and how she was leaving was a moral decision for Star. That's why on her last episode of the view, she mentioned that she sought prayer and counsel before coming forward and telling everyone what was going on.
She didn't feel compelled to lie and deceive her audience like ABC and Babs wanted her to do. I honestly don't think she would care less what repercussion she could face in the end. I'm sure she has held on to a strong faith to be confident enough in her mind to know that she'll be okay.
I think it was necessary for her to come clean with her audience so that she didn't have to compromise the morality and ethics she lives by. We live in a very dirty world out there. It is easy to give in to what society expects of us even if it involves lying, cheating, back biting and deception. Which is pretty sad.
I thought Star was brilliant, well versed, intellectual, outspoken and awesome critical thinker on "The View." I think that being an African American female professional in this country especially with those qualities, you would be viewed as a threat.
I have no doubt that her replacement if it is another African American woman will be a "boxed in" personality who won't get to chime in as much as Star did. That's what the general public could only deal with a minority talent that can only be reserved with their viewpoints and not say much. I think that is expected of African Americans today in general, to not really have a strong opinion about anythng. The majority would view it as being "full of yourself" or harsh.
This situation with Star Jones and "The View" is clearly one that deals with underlying and disguised racism. Whether on ABC or the viewers end.
Everyone knew that Star Jones Reynolds was outspoken and vocal on that show (which many people didn't like her for) long before her marriage and rapid weight loss.
ABC took a role of endorsing her "freebie" wedding and perhaps thought it could be the perfect reason (for ratings to hurt her) they could use to not renew her contract and get rid of her. Sounds like some sort of conspiracy plot to me.

Didn't like Star much anyway - she seems conceited. Barbara Walters is a famous reporter and definitely not racist by anybodys standards. She might be a witch - but she went from doing washing machine commercials to being a top reporter - can't do all that being nice all the time.
I don't watch that show, but its on in the house sometimes. I remember being younger when that first blonde was on, and later got fired. Her I liked.

I like star, I think that every show needs a great DIVA like Star and as far as Barbara Walters is considered a talk shoe host( she shouldn't be).I think that she needs to go and they need to get someone else. But I think that their should be a new talk show with Star and some other new people. I'd watch it rather than the View any day.I only watch the View now to see the BITCHY JOY I love her.But I really miss STAR

I think Star had no control over what happened (her being fired). BUT she DID have control over how it was presented in the press. I think she looks like a fool now. Her bit on Larry King was laughable. She thinks that we have sympathy for her? I've been fired from jobs and I don't go kicking and screaming like she did. She is off the show and is still kicking and screaming. When you don't own the show you should be nice to the people who do own the show. Besides, I had a low opinion of her after her wedding. Did you know that she didn't pay for a thing!!! She's a millionaire marrying a millionaire and she sold her soul to the hightest bidder. She needs to respect herself more!

Barbara Wlaters is not going anywhere. Without her, the show is over. As far as replacing that heinous beotch Star with black guest hosts-if they didn't, then all of a suddent they'd be a racist show that keeps black people down. Jeez, you can't win. Darned if you do and darned if you don't.

Yea I think it was really wrong,,them letting star Jones go just because of the ratings,,I think they really couldn't handle how real she was,,,and Babara Walters wanted star to keep every thing to themselves only because she didn't want to look bad,,,I think Barbara Walters is why the ratings went down.

Star Jones is a piece of trash. At least Barbara Walters, built her career on integrity and hard work.
Star's wedding and weight loss prove it all.

Why is it that people are so against Star because of her weight loss and wedding? I don't know any girl who wouldn't jump at the chance of a freebie wedding and a lot of people are getting the bypass surgery, I don't agree with it personally, but why pick on her out of everyone that has got it.

the way i'm seeing it is that they are getting rid of the people that started the show. i mean they kept having troubles with the 5th person(who is now Elizabeth) but now you have Star and Meradith gone. and you are having rosie coming in to take meradith's place. i can see them having an african amerian taking star's place. but i say get rid of Barbra and get some other race in there to make it more even and then you'll have more opinions on things than just with 4 white ladies and one african.
