I am an avid guitar player, and would like to add to my range of pedals and sounds. I own a:

Gibson Les Paul Custom
Gibson SG Special
Boss Distortion Pedal
Boss Delay/Reverb pedal
Crate Taxi amp
Crate 120R amp

I'm thinking about buying a Fender 212r, but I'm not sure. Also, I've tried a Pod XT Live and they just aren't my style I guess. Anyway, what is your advice on getting new sounds/effects?

Go to a music store and try out a Fender Cyber Twin amp if you haven't already. The LP Custom should sound great through that and it is also an extremely versatile amp (no real need for pedals). The only downfall is the price. You'll see what I mean when you try it out. You can probably get a used one for around $800. You can also chose to buy a midi floor board for it which is awesome or any other type of midi compatible floor pedal. The Fender one is about $200.

This amp's sound puts the Pod to shame with out any un-nessecary effects but still many really good ones.

This amp is also capable of saving all of your presets onto your computer so you never loose them or have an infinite storage capacity.

Hope you enjoy it!!!

put some money into an amp dude! not pedals! a great sound starts with the guitar you chose and the amp you play through, ive never been a big pedal guy. just for messin around mostly. get an old tube ampor something along that line of thinking. you'll be suprised! i personally like alot of distortion and overdrive, so i like marshall tube amps. also had a gallian krueger that rocked. mesa boogies are nice too. crate in my opinion is the retarded cousin of the amplifier! get something else and you may find you dont need more pedals...

start with a good tube amp, get rid of crate. in my experience, they were troublesome and sound otherwise junky. get a marshall head or mesa boogie, then try you effects pedels through them. yes it is expensive, but if you want a great sound, you have to pay for it.
