I agree with ami. Media IS biased, but let's not miss the point here: media IS, BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE, BUSINESS. Remember that Bowling for Columbine movie? Media sells fear, sells political stands, sells sensationalism and crap in many, many forms. If you have seen ANY reality show, you can see what I mean. (BTW, that movie is part of media, too).
I would saymedia would be doing enough if it would encourage people to gather, to discuss, to make a stand. That is something media will NEVER do. They play along by the rules set by their own govts.
Now, crisis is not worst now than it has ever been before. (NOTE: I am NOT talking about ENVIRONMENTAL crisis!) The thing is:
a) There are more people in the world, now
b) EVERYBODY is aware of these BECAUSE of the media
c) Crisis SELL!! They make the news' day!
I honestly thing that media is a way of the govts to make people think whatever THEY want them to think, and act like THEY want people to act.

I think it's more complicated than whether or not the media is being strung along by the government. Each newspaper, each radio station, each magazine, news channel, etc., no matter how much they say they're unbiased, they have a tendency to lean toward one government or another. So if one media outlet is Republican they're going to spin their paper so it looks favourably on that government. Same goes for media outlets that favour Democrat, Liberal or Conservative.
I guess that was the long way of saying that in a way, the media is strung along by the government.
I believe though, that the media should shove aside as much of their feelings toward the government in power and focus more on what really matters; the truth

I have family that is fighting for our country as we speak. I get emails from them often telling me how frustrating the media makes them. They send me pictures showing how the people are so happy they are there. They go to schools and give supplies and they have to literally pull the kids off of them. They are angry that the media portrays the war as a "lost cause". They are over there fighting to make our country a safer, and better place to live, while, our own citizens are pickiting against it. Granted, many are against the president, but it is still a smack in the face to our troops who are putting their lives on the line. Those men and woman CHOSE to enlist. It was their choice to join and people need to realize that. Our media is all about getting the best story first. I don't really watch the news anymore. It is all negative. If something happens that I need to know about, I will get that information.

the media blow things out of proportion and most of the time make it worse then it actually is.
The govt. only helps make this the case. I wish people wouldn 't believe everything they hear on tv when it comes to news or anything else that is on tv unless you hear or see it directly from the person or persons involved.
As a song by the Black Eyed Peas and Justin Timberlake the song states this..."Where is the love?"

All media is controlled by the government. They are told what they can say when they can say it, how to wipe their A**, and what kind of toilet paper to use. Most of the media knows no more than you or I do. If you want real answers listen to things like shortwave media and unofficial news casts such as infowars.com. Look for local "truth seeker" meetings in your area and above all study your history books. All history repeats itself in one form or another, you just have to make comparissons.

the media competes for ratings..if you compare the time alotted to star watching ,movie revues and sports, to critical things happening in the war.....you can see what veiwers are tuning in to..
in the 60's people cared about the war
today they care about american idol
consequences of a american society made up of single parent households, gender indentity confusion and a consumer mentality that promotes self worth in terms of dollars without sense of anything else

Well it depends on what you mean by that. If you mean the are the reporters doing enough reporting on the war, I think they are doing MORE than enough.

They're doing too much. It seems like they're doing enough to derail our attempts to resolve the situation. With all the bitching they're doing, sometimes I just want them to shut up.
