I am a 13 year old piano and my parents bought a new piano and I thought I wanted to continue playing. Now it is hassle and I keep telling them that it is for girls. My parents say that it is good for me. Is piano a girl instrument?

Hmm, ask Van Cliburn, Harry Connick Jr., Chopin, or any of the keyboardists in a current hot rock band. I bet they will tell you it isn't!
No instrument is particularly for girls or boys. That is one of the things that is great about music - we all can practice and get better at it, and make beautiful sounds.
Some of the larger instruments tend to be given to boys, and some of the smaller ones to girls. But that doesn't mean everyone who plays it has to be of that gender!
p.s. I knew a really good female tuba player. She got a music scholarship to college.

Dude, I'm a 22 year old guy and I play guitar in a hardcore metal band, and I will absolutely tell you that the piano is NOT a ''girl" instrument. In fact, I've been playing piano for almost as long as I've been playing guitar. Once you learn how to play the piano, a whole myriad of musical mysteries will be unlocked in your brain. It gives a better understanding of music overall.

Not only is playing the piano a unisex activity, it is also good for your brain and physical-mental coordination. Children who play music generally do better in school, no one knows for sure why this is but I think creating music stimulates the brain in ways that enhance learning. And it's fun too! Give it a chance and your life will be enriched, even though you may not think so right now.

No instrument is particularly a "girl" or "guy" thing. Some of the best composers and performers in the world have been men - Beethoven, Bach...
Keep at it. AND, girls think a guy who can play an instrument is hot.

pianos not a girl instrument. i personally like it when guys play it. but thats me. if u dont want to play it then dont.

no way the piano is a very manly instrument (Liberace excepted) you can coax deep and crashing tones fronm the low end you can do runs that show extreme atheletic power plus it keeps your fingers limber an suppel for foosball

I think it's attractive when a guy can play a classy instrument.
I know guys that play keyboards, pianos, and flutes!

That's ridiculous! Most boys actually have an advantage over girls because their hands are larger and they can play octaves easily.

not at all...Mozart was a fabulous piano player along with Tchicovsky, and many other men that man beautiful music!
