At my local Wal-Mart, there are a bunch of cheap shirts in very nice colors. They are 60% cotton and 40% polyester. I've always worn 100% cotton, so I don't know if these shirts are...acceptable quality. Is 60% cotton good enough for a shirt? I heard that polyester is cheap and makes you sweat a lot because cotton allows better air-flow. Either way, I just want the shirts for the unusual colors that can't be found in 100% cotton.

It's actually a great combination because it has the best qualities of both types of fabrics. Polyester is a very durable and strong fabric, however it's not very soft or comfortable. Cotton is the exact opposite...it's not as durable but it is softer and more breathable. The fact that the majority of the shirt is comprised of cotton is good because it's still going to have a softer feel, while maintaining some of the polyester strengths. Hope this helps!

A cotton/polyester blend won't shrink OR stretch. That's why it was developed. You should have returned the shirts if you didn't like the way they fit. You'll have to either wear them as is, or give them to someone smaller than you. Slim-fitting clothing is much more fashionable right now than loose.

My husband loves the colors too, but won't let me buy them. I didn't understand, until I wore one outside. If you tend to stay indoors in the air-conditioning and don't work for a living (i.e. sweat), go for it. But if you ever actually *do* break a sweat, poly tends to keep it right next to your body and make you *ITCH* like crazy. Cotton is way cooler in that sense, anyway!!
