I need to make clear that by soft tackle I mean a player is "staging an injury" and is very clear,I appreciate that many are genuine injuries.

I am on a premier soccer team and I watch the world cup to learn more about the game. I don't think it is right that whenever someone touches them, they fall down. It kills me to see the best players in the game, faking an injury for a foul and then getting right back up for the kick. In my soccer games there is no diving (falling down when there isn't a foul). Granted, we don't play on an international level. I say if soccer players act to get a foul, they should go to Hollywood and leave us alone.

I used to think each fall and subsequent scream of pain was truly genuine, but the more I watch, the more faking I see. This really disappoints me, especially when the ref just goes along with the fallen player. Of course, sometimes the pain IS real, like then someone falls and then later can't continue to play because of the injury (Argentina's GK in the quarterfinals match, C. Ronaldo in the game against the Netherlands, etc.), but the ones who do fake it undermine the game for everyone else. However, since refs can't see everything at once, I guess it's okay to exaggerate some to get his attention, but not to the point where everyone (including you yourself especially) knows you're being a faker.

FIFA can stop the problem fairly easily - any contriversial moments should be reviewed by an independant panel and any player caught cheating (diving) should get an automatic 4 match ban - that should keep them on their feet. After all if a player elbows someone and the ref misses it, then the players still gets banned on video evidence, so why not the cheats who dive as well.

you ever been kicked in the ankles with metal cleats while running
if they were to replay it i dont think it will look like much but when you get kicked like that you usually have to go to the side for a minute put cold water walk it off then go play again but some take advantage because the referee didnt have a good angle on it and they get a free kick

It won't keep me from watching the World Cup, but it does truly annoy me. No sport should have its outcome so affected by the whining and acting skills of the players.

They act like a bunch of pansies, not real men. Besides that, we know they are faking it. One of the best reasons to admire athletes is that they endure through pain. You don't have to look very far - American football, Tour de France, marathon runners, etc. It's hard to call it a "beautiful game" with all this pansy acting.

It doesnt affect my interest...
But yeah i dont like big dramas about something that sometimes didnt even really happened.

For example, they complain about how much their face hurts and the other player didnt even get close to him!

But well... i guess is part of the football show =)

they might be screaming in pain...because its painful to fall! just because it looks like a soft tackle to someone watching on tv, doesnt mean it doesnt hurt.

i still love soccer. they can scream, cry, and whine and i'll still love it.

Taking a dive is truly dishonorable and disgraceful to the game. It is cheating to gain an advantage, just like steroids...win on your own talent!
