He can't end poverty in Africa! We've created at least part of the problem in Africa by shipping tons of food and loads of medicine over there for decades and now the population has spiraled way beyond what the resources can support and natural selection/survival of the fittest have given way to a cycle of over population, disease, starvation and waiting for the rice and the drugs to drop from the sky. And before you all gasp in horror at my natural selection/survival of the fittest comment, think of it this way... the only thing that has changed in that respect is 1) The sheer numbers (because we interfered) and 2) the fact that we are there to witness and document it with celebs in tow!

Notice that in our society, we take our cues and directions from a celebrity. We ignore common people who may have devoted their whole lives to the same cause.
This is a perfect illustration of why problems such as poverty exist, and why they will not be resolved. We are the species that always wants more. If you're not somebody, you're nobody. And in that never ending struggle to gain, others by definition *must* lose.
Bono's heart is in the right place - but he fails to understand that, until there are no more Bonos, people will be poor. When we can play our own music and our own games, rather than pay someone else to do it for us, we can begin to eliminate poverty.

Before you could expect an accurate answer to that question, you would have to know the definition of "moron." I doubt that you do. I will help you out, though.
Moron (psychology), a psychology-related term for a person with a genetically determined mental age between 8 and 12
After listening to Bono's video/audio provided by Yahoo, I would think the "moronic" definition would not apply to Bono. At least he is trying to do something about a world-wide epidemic. I'm wondering, what have you done to benefit the life of one person---much less the lives of countless people in Africa?
Until you can actually say that your efforts have eased another person's pain, raised their quality of life, or contributed to their knowledge and education so they might make their own lives better, I would respectfully submit that you haven't a leg to stand on with any sarcastic comments you may still be trying to formulate.
Good luck with your "vocabulary" problem.

Last time I checked, Bono is trying to REDUCE poverty. I don't think even Bono believes that poverty can ever be ended completely. However, reducing poverty is as noble a goal as I can think of.
If you were one of the many millions of poor people in this world, I doubt your opinion of Bono would be so flippant and negative.

He thinks he can end poverty because there is enough wealth in the world that everyone could have something. Doesn't that sound like Robin Hood, take from the rich and give to the poor? Or maybe if we were all communists we could distribute the wealth that way. I don't believe in re-distribution as government policy but I am all for individuals and communities volunteering to help others.

At least he is trying to reduce the number of people living in poverty. I find that very admirable. If everyone were as short-sighted as believing there can never be a solution, there can never be an end, then there would not be any advancement in the world.

He can't end world poverty. Poverty can only be ended by the dying out of the baby breeders. It is one generation after the other over and over again.

Bono is not a moron. Have you ever read about his entire life. He was not rich when he was growing up, he knows what it is like to be poor. Him and his badn U2 have given milions of dollars to help people in need all over the world. I think that you are jealous of him because he has money and fame. At least he isn't running around screwing everything under the sun, and fondling the children that he helps!

Bono likes the idea that he has the influence to get other people or governments to spend thier money on his pet poverty projects. It's nothing more than an ego trip.

Because he has never had to review a balance sheet (he has people for that).
Also he is not stupid. Just opportunistic. The people that blindly follow his twisted logic are the stupid ones.
Stand up and be counted you fools.
If you are willing to be a lemming and follow him off of a cliff, go for it.
But before you do, you may want to ask HOW he proposes to end poverty.
Ah, but that would mean you have to use your brain.
OK never mind.
