I don't know what annoys me more:
1) He has trouble speaking, writing and comprehending English.
2) He uses the phone at work to make personal calls.
3) Or that he can be loud when talking on the phone.

And another thing that annoys me is that his personal calls are in Spanish so I can't understand it.

What's funny is when he starts making gestures with his hands. I can tell when he's giving driving directions to someone. He would actually point north, south, east or west -- as if the person on the other line could see it!

I would talk to a supervisor that this person is disturbing your work environment and you are having difficulty concentrating due to the volume.

I would try to politely ask the person if they realize that they are broadcasting to the environment, and do they really want everyone to know their business?

I have a radio in my office with headphones so I don't have to listen to other people.

I would ask to have my working space moved (get a different location away from the loud person).

Send him a Funny Greeting which says "He is tooo Loud on Phone". You can tell him your word in a funny way.

I guess when talks loudly over the phone to make personal calls annoys you the most.

Kindly remind him that he's in a shared space, and tell him that it's difficult for you to concentrate. Adults too, need to be reminded of indoor voices.

Sometimes nothing works, or may only work for a couple of days. The guy in the office across from me INSISTS on using his speakerphone for every conversation he has (90% personal BTW). Sometimes one of us will get up and close his door. Other times, I just plug in my headphones and tune EVERYTHING out.

If you want to be polite...leave a note telling him that he can be overheard. You can also ask the supervisor to mention something about personal calls at work.

If you want to be impolite, mention something person you overheard. He will realize that others can hear his personal business. Be prepared for the possibility that he might not care. Then, you would just have to tell him to lower his voice.

Ask him to switch on his hearing aid. Normally deafs speak louder, because he cant hear it otherwise.
