You get $800.00 a month on SSI? That is pretty high for SSI, you must be in a state that supplements the SSI payment. If you are living with someone and SSI thinks you are living alone, you are getting over paid. You need to report that you have a roommate now. Buying and preparing usually makes a difference in how much you get paid as well. In my state, as the rules for SSI vary from state to state, if you have a roommate that you purchase and prepare food with, you get a further reduction in SSI. If you get married, your wife's income will count as your income as well and that will reduce your benefits even further. It is sad to say that people on SSI are usually financially harmed if they get married. You need to report your living arrangement change ASAP though, because when SSI finds out they will retroactively change the amount you were entitled to and you will be hit with a huge overpayment. If you were to ever get on SSDI Your living arrangement would not affect your SSD, but a marriage would. Good luck.
