Night stands are pieces of furniture that you can use for whatever you want - I guess initially for things you need at night. What do I keep? Lamp, alarm clock, and TV remotes on top. In the drawers, I have books and various mementos from weddings, graduations, etc.

Lamp , alarm clock, tissue, book, jewelry, and hide all the "private" things in the drawer.
