I have always loved vampire movies and when I was much younger, wished for one to come to me and share the "dark gift" of immortality with me. I don't much like the taste of blood, but I imagine that would change with the experience. I know it sounds silly, but I figured, what the hell... doesn't hurt to ask?

thanks for all of the helpful links, (Blood and Milk) With so much written about them and the history behind the early belief in them, it makes it easy to think there might be some truth to it.

Well, there are many emotional vampires. They suck you out of energy before you know it. Some are really good at it, very subtil they suck and suck and suck untill you feel completely drained.

There are also people who think they are real vampires and kill people for the blood.

Then, there are also people who have a kind of vampire fetish, they cut and bite each other while having sex, or with a sexual feeling attached to it.

There are also many people who just love the vampire stories and go a bit far in it. There is roleplaying games, and vampire parties.

Last but not least there is a kind of bat that sucks blood, the vampire bat.

So yeah, I believe in many kind of vampires. :-)

By the way, I just love the books of Ann Rice, and the movie 'Interview with a Vampire' I have seen over and over again. It has such a romantic twist on it, this dark tragic romantic feeling... I have to admit that I find blood kind of erotic..
If the dark gift would be real and it would be offered to me, I think I would say yes.

I have always loved vampire novels, and I'm in love with the story they reveal, with the mystery that is Anne Rice, Stephen King, and all over novelists who have written about the dark lifestyle. It all seemed so romantic. But vampires really exist today, they may or may not be immortal, but check out the news. They make an appearance every now and again. And the truth of that is far from romantic. I'm a writer myself, and I also write about the dark mystery that is vampires and the romance it entails, but I also know and understand what a vampire would have to do for a living, and there is nothing romantic about that.

i know few LOL, this is where the stories came from:

Vampire Bat

Myths and legends from all over the world portray bats as blood-sucking demons. Vampire bats really do exist, but only three species in Central and South America.

The vampire bats (Desmodus rotundus) have a wingspan of about eight inches and a body about the size of an adult's thumb. If not for their diet, people would not pay much attention to these small bats. Vampire bats feed on the blood of large birds, cattle, horses, and pigs. However, they donÕt suck the blood of their "victims".

Using their sharp teeth, the bats make tiny cuts in the skin of a sleeping animal. The bats' saliva contains a chemical that keeps the blood from clotting. The bats then lap up the blood that oozes from the wound. Another chemical in their saliva numbs the animal's skin and keeps them from waking up.

A vampire bat finds its prey with echolocation, smell, and sound. They fly about one meter above the ground. Then they use special heat sensors in their noses to find veins that are close to the skin.

Scientists have discovered that vampire bat saliva is better at keeping blood from clotting than any known medicine. Vampire bats may one day help prevent heart attacks and strokes. Vampire bats are one of the few bat species that are considered a pest. In Latin America, cattle raising is a growing business, and sleeping cattle attract vampire bats. In ranching areas, control programs have been started. However, millions of beneficial bats are destroyed by people who mistake them for vampires.

I used to be a vampire but this is a werewolf neighbourhood and I kept getting beaten up. I spent a lot of money with the Vampire Therapy(look it up) people and as long as I have 3 or 4Kgs of rare steak each week I can keep my behaviour under control.

There are vampire communities in every city. There are those who believe that they are actually vampires -- there are those who role play every chance they get, and then there are those who have the blood fetish and live the vampire lifestyle.

If you are serious about looking it up, look into groups in your city.
