The Classic is the carry over from the previous style. It is mostly sold because it was cheaper, and it did extremely well in fleet sales. It is a solid enough car, but the new one is much better.

The Chevy Malibu is the "Z" body style and the Classic is the "N" body style. Just like Classic Coke, vs New Coke, some people liked the change in the Malibu and some liked the Classic style so they offer both.

a classic has more options like a dvd player in the back and also has a different interior.
