Well, today I was wandering around the web looking for how to speed up my computer. My computer runs pretty well being less than half a year new, it runs at 3.00 GHz. I heard that you can overclock computers but I don't know how to do that. If anyone knows and they can be specific towards a Dell Dimension 9100, it would be greatly aprreciated. If more specs are needed heres goes:
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2
Pentium 4
CPU 3.00GHz
1.00 GB of RAM

If any other specifications are needed please ask. Thank you in advance.

though overclocking boostes your Computer.... it's not good to do that since it's very very risky! Overclocking generates much heat and may damage your MotherBoard... the purpose of overclocking is just to boost speed for better performance and your computer statisitic shows that It's Fine 3.00 Ghz ,1 Gb ram that's a lot.... so better don't do overclocking since for practical or learning also doing overclocking is harmful....

Dell has their BIOS--and their BIOS settings make the computer run at a certain speed. The BIOS is a program in the BIOS chip. This program controls all the controllable points in a computer.A BIOS flash is a recording of the BIOS settings that can be transferred to the BIOS chip.In other words the BIOS parameters are set and you make a flash file. The flash file is just the settings for the BIOS program. In the Dell computer is the Phoenix BIOS.The Phoenix BIOS is the real BIOS for the computer. The Dell BIOS covers up the Phoenix BIOS.Your computer has a Front Side Buss frequency of X.The computer speed is X.That makes the FSB multiplier as 2 point something.Overclocking is somebody's word;I'm not particularly fond of it.You should be able to adjust the Phoenix BIOS FSB multiplier to a greater number than 2--if you could access the Phoenix BIOS.(my findings)

I do not think you can overclock Intel CPU's, but you can always go into the bios settings and check out the processor frequency settings. Oh yeah, on attempt it if you have done it before, because you can seriously fry your hardware.

But I doubt Dell will has enabled manual frequency settings.

You can overclock the cpu with cpufsb. Settings:
Motherboard asus
and the mainboard type P4C800. Then press fine tuning and set the frequency to what you want.
For gpu you can use ati tool. Or radlinker. Or ati tray tools.

Why take a chance like this? This system should be blazing as it is! If you find it too slow, then I would be looking to optimize the startup, remove spyware, and perhaps add some more ram.

We are talking Dell here.... you can but it is not wise. Usually they run pretty much as fast as is safe.
