The fuses have been checked, and they are all fine. Does anyone have any other ideas so that I can avoid taking my truck into a shop?

Thank you Sigmund, jbrad, KJ, and nathan. The blinkers do not work at all...all the way around, nor do the indicators in the dash. I appreciate the help and not the retarded obvious answers that some replied with that I had thought of before asking on here!!

unlike some people I will not talk to you like you are an idiot, as some people just don't know alot about vehicles. It is more than likely your flasher, it is located underneath the dash on the left side. It is probably square and silver in color (could be black and could be round, but I doubt it. Also on some models if 1 bulb goes out it will kill both to prevent a dead ground from occurring, so check your bulbs first as they will be the cheapest to replace.

depending on how they are not working ..
If when you turn on the turn signal and the indicator light on the dash stays on . it is an indication of a burnt out light bulb in either the front or the rear
If you turn it on and both front and rear bulbs turn on along with the dash light .. swap the position of the 2 round ( bout the size of a quarter and 3/4 in. tall ) flasher units on your fuse panel. [one is used for the emergency flashers] if this fixes the problem you know it is the flasher unit. remember to replace the one for the emergency flashers. you may need it .
If neither of these fix the issue then a mechanic may be your next best bet.

Flasher Unit or Bulb.

The flasher unit is either a round canister looking device or a square cube devices attached to your fuse block. Go to AutoZone or PepBoys to get them to show you what one looks like, they may even be able to tell you where it's located. The flasher unit is just a relay that makes that famous sound when turning left or right.

It could be a burned out bulb, or several. I've had as many as 3 bulbs burned out. You can tell if a bulb is burned out by looking at the filiment inside, it will appear broken. If the bulb is white or black and can't see inside, replace it.

If your fuse is blown, most likely you will not have reverse lights either.

Hope this helps.

i used to have a 62 and now a 60 chevy Impala, and these cars are notorius for the same problem. here's some of the things we reguarly check and are in need of now bulbs in the blinkers or taillights, clean all connections (a dirty or rotted wire can mess it up) use a soft sand paper or wire brush, a part in the steering column (that was on the 62) good luck hope this helps
