(of any ethnicity) who claims (either very often or only sometimes) they he has a "thing" for asian women, would take that as an insult or would you be alright with it. Shouldn't a person date you for you and not because he has a thing for your skin colour ...?

A thing for Asian women? If it's a minor point of attraction it won't excuse defects of personality and behavior it shouldn't be an issue for him after he gets used to you. If it's a fetish that causes unreasonable, bizarre and inflexible expectations of your behavior it's time for him to go.

I wouldn't date a guy who says he has a thing for Asian women, but that's because I'm a straight white guy and am unlikely to hook up with someone who digs Asian chicks. ;)

Sure. It may be a tacky way of putting it (there is a far worse term for an attraction to Asian women that I won't share here) but it's natural to have a "preference" for certain things about someone on the surface. I would be concerned if that is the only thing he finds attractive after the first 5 minutes, however.

Everyone has preferences as to what he or she is attracted to. It's true of both men and women. Just look at the personal ads in any newspaper. People tend to look for certain things that they are attracted to. Some guys prefer blondes...others like heavy set women...there are literally a host of categories that men feel attracted to. Women are no different. Some women prefer tall men...others like them to be athletic....some prefer intellectual men. I don't think that you should be hard on him for his attraction to Asian women. I'm sure that you have been attracted to a particular kind of man at some time or other. Whatever the initial attraction will be...it will ultimately depend upon your individual qualities...which is why I suspect that he may be interested in you now...

i'd date a guy of a diverse ethnicity than my own. i actually am crushing on a guy that is Puerto Rican and that i'm caucasian. It in simple terms relies upon on the way you act round those women and in case you provide them a reason to love you except your race. There are some women that would not in any respect date all of us that wasn't white yet there are not many. do not complication too a lot about it. i'm in simple terms hoping the guy i like dates white women. :P

If you prefer Steak, does that mean you won't eat chicken? Men are attracted to lots of different qualities in women. It's probably just something he finds very attractive and it doesn't mean he would act on it. The acting on that kind of impulse is what you should be concerned about. I for example have a thing for women, period. I am married and have enough respect for myself, my wife, and my kids to not act on it.

Being Asian may, indeed, have very little to do with your skin color.

It may be your hair
It may be your eyes
It may be you personality
It may that he finds himself getting along better with Asian women

I'm not saying I'm 100% right. But, I might be a little bit right.

Allowing that your Asian, I'd be uncomfortable with him. Hell, why is he with you? Is it love or a fetish.

Mind you if HE'S Asian, I'm guessing it's cool.

It's like when a guy says 'I have a thing for red heads'.. I don't think it is a racial slur it's just their preference...
