There are many companies that choose not to hire overweight people because the see them as a health risk. Mostly all companies provide health insurance to their full time employees, If there is a person that they see as a potential health risk, they will not take the chance to hire them. This will cause the compant to shell out too much cash when that person becomes ill. Now adays in some companies the want a complete medical history before they hire you to make sure you are not at risk of being ill. Some places won't hire you if you are a smoker, if some one in you family has or has had cancer, as well as other illnesses. This sort of dicrimination doesn't only affect you if you are overweight, but if you are at risk of becoming ill.

Another reason why some companies won't hire an overweight person is because they have a certain "image" they want to portray and they feel that overweight people just always look sloppy and unprofessional. I work at a car dealership and the only women I've seen work here are slender long haired blue-eyed women. Hell I'm surprised that the gave me, an African American women a job. Perhaps they needed to fill there quota.

This world is a cruel place and if you don't fit the magazine cover image than you are just s#$t out of luck. Just keep your head up and try to make a change for what you believe in. Also remember, it is against the law to not hire a person based on their race, religion, sex or certain appearance(ie. overweight).

I hope this helped.

It has been proved. I have seen it on Dateline or 20/20. The more attractive physically a person is..the more likely they will get the job if it is close. Especially, if there are two people who have similar qualifications. However, I do think if the overweight/obese person has significantly more qualifications..he/she will still get the job. It makes sense in certain jobs such as physical labor and modeling..but less so in other jobs. Sadly, it is the hard truth and reality of visual perception and bias...only suggestion I can make is for overweight/obese people to lose..weight..but not just for getting jobs..but mainly for overall health.

unless you have statistical data to prove your theory your pushing it.

Heavy people have jobs thats why they are heavy, its called healthy. How else do they support their eating habits.

Id be worried about thin people because thin people obviously dont make money. Ever walk into a dmv

all good paying jobs, mostly heavy people

do the math but do it correctly.

IT people MOST are heavy (make good money)

I have know idea what the answer to your question is. However, I'm intrigued by the words. Why use the word heavy when you mean fat and not use the word light instead of thin?

I think this is political correctness rearing it's aesthetically challenged head, don't you?

Its human nature. Like in highschool the attractive person gets the most respect.

Also it tells me something about someone. Lack of displine. Why do you let yourself get overweight like that? Shows that u dont care.
Also due to high healthcare costs a place that almost hired me actually told me that they are big into health and u get free gym memberships and stuff. Employeers have to bear the burden of your extra helthcare.

Realistically and honestly? No one wants to look at a big, fat slob in their office or workplace everyday. It's hard to make a good first impression when you're overweight.

bc depending on the job and the weight of the person... it limits them from doing certian jobs.skinny ppl don't have to carry the extra weight. heavy ppl arent lazy.. they just can't do much like i said depending on the weight.

Fat people are regarded as self-indulgent, or unhealthy, or weak-willed.
This is not necessarily the case, but it is the perception of many. None of these characteristics are regarded as desireable in an employee.
Cheers.
