Generally the motive is to get richer everyday without realizing that money does not belong to you for ever. One dies and the show is over - even for billionaires. Hence making others have a better existence with the extra bit of your money is worth doing. And enjoyiong yourself doing that too!

I truly hope that it does. It's not about how much money or power that you have, or how many vacation homes, or fast cars, it's about caring about the other people on this planet, and I think that they have set a great example of how a responsible person with money should act. I do hope that others will follow in their footsteps.

Yes, I believe the human generosity of Bill Gates and Warren Buffet would create a domino effect in terms of other millionaires/billionaires coming out of the closet for world recognition in donating money to charity to end world hunger. They get free press time for every donation they make so let all the other billionaires/millionaires try to appear human rather than selfishly keeping their money for themselves. The disgustingly rich need to give money to charity because they forget that the little people helped them to get where they are today.

Let's face some facts. Generally rich people in this country are at least mildly concerned about two things as far as money. Taxes and public image. Large, publicized donations help them with both. These individuals in question have so much money that what they give away isn't even a drop in the bucket. Easy to be charitable when you need your own bank (theoretically, not literally) to hold all your cash.

It won't Daryl Hanna wanted the person that bought the land in LA to give it to the people farming it. But could she buy the land. No. Could she call a few celebs getting 20 million a film doing 2-3 films a year to help, No. The business man bought the land from the city of LA for 15 million. I am sure he is not getting 20 million for a six to eight week shoot.

No...no it wouldnt. There is a well known fact that people, if given money lose it fast....it goes because they dont know how to keep it or re-make it. Bill Gates didnt set out to make a fortune.....he just had an idea and brains to sell it. Why should idiots benefit by that, by a brief spending spree on his behalf?

A lot of his interest, of his earnings, goes to tax. Tax pays those who are in need of benefits....so he is paying you to do nothing.

Money doesnt last forever...that is true...but as the song goes..."what have you done for me lately"?

He is giving back...not to you maybe but they are trying to help the world. Why should rich people give when they have many ancestors to leave their money to. Rich people have made their way and WANT/NEED their kin to remember them.....soul survival. Nobody wants to die and be forgotten and bequeathment is a way to keep that intact.

Most rich people do give money, and some (like Gates and Buffett) give A LOT of money... I suppose there's always room for more generosity in the world though... let's hope others learn from their example.

I think that for the most part, rich people only see other rich people. The poor goes unnoticed unless, one of their advisors or friends say that they would get points or into a particular social circle, if they support some charity. The rich are simply only concerned about themselves and their own self promotion. What a horrible lot of money grubbers.

definite. the prosperous to me are the Gates & Buffets & Soros's & Hollywood stars & athletes that make contained in the 1000's of thousands and thousands...billions. yet, those are those who can get the legal experts to conceal money from the IRS. The small biz guy with 5 or 6 on the payroll can not.

most people who have money don't give a dam abou tpoor people and think they are all vultures trying to get their precious money.

will it cause them to think about it and give up their money? no.

Buffet has been talking to Bill Gates for years, he is keeping enough to still be filthy rich and his 31b he gave will be used incorrectly.

Giving aid is not like building real infrastructure. And with 31b, you can build up infrastructure and promote business development to help hundreds of areas to become self sufficient. Instead they will give free food and health care and cause the poor people to become too reliant on it. The when the money runs out they will till be standing there with their hands out, and we will be the ******* for cutting it off.
