It's really different for different babies. Clean it with alcohol. Don't get it soaked. There are diapers with a little indentation to go below the cord so that it doesn't get wet. It may take 2 weeks or more but eventually, it will fall off. You don't have to worry about getting it a little damp when bathing the baby, just don't soak it. It has to dry up to fall off.

Clean the whole cord stump (even inside the belly button) with alcohol wipes or a q-tip dipped in alcohol each time you change a diaper. My sons only took a week to fall off (he is three weeks old) but they can take up to three weeks. While the cord is still attached make sure to keep it dry and only give your newborn sponge bathes. When it does fall off there may be some bleeding at the cord area, this is normal.

You should clean it with rubbing alcohol and it takes about one week to 10 days for it to fall off but every baby is different. The way I got my daughter's cord to fall off faster was to pour alittle of the rubbing alcohol on it 3 times a day. I would take a paper towel and cut a hole in it and put it around the cord so it would not go everywhere then put the rubbing alcohol in the cap and pour it on. Make sure you only give sponge baths until it falls off and after it falls off make sure you still clean it a couple of days. If there is alittle bleeding it is normal. Good Luck.

Clean the whole cord with alcohol. Do this several times a day. All children are different on the amount of time it takes it to fall off. My daughter took only one week. A friend of mine's son took almost a month.

I was told to clean the cord with alcohol 3 times a day. It took two or three weeks for my daughters to fall off.

It supposedly takes anywhere from 1-2 weeks, however, my friend's baby's stayed on for almost 3 weeks. They should have given you some alcohol pads when you brought your baby home- these are the best for cleaning because they kill germs and the alcohol has a drying effect which will make it fall off like a scab! Hang in there- it WILL come off eventually :)

Just clean around the stump with alcohol. You don't want to get it to wet because you want it to dry up and fall off. If I remember right it takes about 3 or 4 weeks to fall off.

My babies cord came off right before she turned 6 weeks old. All you do is take a q-tip and saturate it with rubbing alcohol. Pull the cord back a little bit and take the q-tip and wipe around the exposed skin.
