Very strange question.
Can only gather that you are talking about an engineer within the company you work for, if that is the case then you shouldnt be putting personal photos on ur desktop, also by adding any extra security or altering passwords you could be breaking company policies and find yourself in trouble and possibly being reprimanded.

There is always a way to protect things, and always a way round them.
The simplist method is you could place them into a password protected zip file. This means a little more pain for you when you want to open them and he can crack the password with freely available tools on the web given enough time but the effort may put him off.
Another way is you can password protect a folder but again there are always ways around this. Check out http://www.download.com and search for free utils which can password protect a folder. There are some good ones out there with no cost.
Another way is remove them from your computer and put them onto a removable disk such as a USB pen drive. These can be purchased for very little these days and you simply remove it when you want.
There are other ways but the costs get larger.
You could always just confront him, tell him you know hes taking your pictures and that if he does it again yourll report him to the police, it is a criminal offence afterall. That maybe enough alone to stop him. Unless its like naked pictures of yourself and then the temptation could be too strong.

well, there are several ways, but it depends on how this "engineer" is doing it.
Does he/she have "physical access" to your computer (meaning sitting at your desk when you're not in the office, etc.) .. that case is much harder to protect against, but my answer will still generally be the same.
Use encryption.
There are tons of free programs that do an excellent job of encrypting stuff. One we recommend and use here (big .edu) is TrueCrypt (www.truecrypt.org). Create an encrypted volume, and pick a good password. When you want to use it, you can mount it like a normal drive (S:\ or whatever) and copy stuff there. When done, unmount it and it's encrypted to the point that no non-3letter-agency folk wouldn't be able to mess with it.

Save the pix to disc. You can't stop this person if he's "THE MAN" to go to for PC help. Save the pix so you can upload them again when he takes them. I had a similar problem, so I saved the data on my own disc and uploaded it when my computer needed to be "fixed."

Install and use a firewall.
Use a log-in password to prevent access to your computer.
Use data encryption to prevent unauthorized use of your data.
Remove the hard drive from your computer when not in use.
Disable your webcam.

Well is it a problem with a freeware program or is it's just hacker's? if free ware program like limewire or kazza, there will be a setting in the options menu to change what people can see. if it's just hacker's, do you have a firewall. if you don't id suggest getting zonealam, or setting up the firewall through window's.

you need to clean off your harddrive disk. Then be sure, afterwards, he does NOT get your p/c's IP #. Make sure you get a new IP # after you get your harddrive cleared. Hope this is right,,have a great day!

This bothers me a lot about people! you do not have any trespassing indicators, why can't they get it by skill of their thick heads that they ought to not be on your resources! we've this example truly lots yet thankfully for them, the dogs ran them off the resources earlier I had to. we've a path in the back of our pastures and continually have people on ATV's, different horses, automobiles dirt using, etc preventing to seem and feed and attempting to puppy our horses. people attempt to get interior the pasture! we've electric powered fence indicators, "beware of Horse" indicators, no trespassing indicators, Browning and "secure by using Smith and Wesson" stickers, all kinds of issues. i'm not loopy yet i visit make it seem that thanks to save my animals secure and to attempt to stay away from colic surgical operation charges. I second the dogs and shotgun theory to discourage weirdos like this, that is truly the purely thanks to get issues for the time of to people even as the police are not precisely a telephone call away (do exactly not shoot!). we are residing to inform the tale a useless end street too. i'd be camped out interior the pasture waiting for them to quit by using back and components them hell...yet that is in simple terms me. placed a heavy duty lock/chain on your gate, in case you do not already have one. it style of sounds like those people you're coping with are performing previous extra suspicious than in simple terms casual stupidity so take down their registration code numbers, call the police and document them for trespassing. tell them you've them on video or maybe as confronted, the people insist they weren't in any respect there yet save returning. Make a pest of your self till they do something about it.
