You need to ask these questions of your airline. First, though, be sure to write down the *exact* model number of the car seat (if you intend to *use* it on the plane). Some seats are allowed in planes, and others are not.

You can take a metal 5 point harness car seat and use on plane. (check with airline for manufacturer/ their criteria). Any other cannot be used aboard. You can't take an ordinary one into the cabin & it has to go in the hold. It will count in the allowance. I have cheated a little if it is part of a travel system and put on as part of a pushchair. Virgin airlines provide boosters for children up to 2 years. If you want to book a seat for an infant they won't let you use it if you don't have a seat but again I have done this.

If you mean you'll need it when you get there for a car, you have to put it a luggage. You won't need it on a plane. My brother-n-law worked for an airport for years and he said you hold babies on planes. The truth of the matter is that if it crashes they will more than likely die and the car seat wouldn't help anyway. But people have a greater chance of dieing in a car than on a plane.

they allow u to take it on the plane if you bought a seat ticket for your child. If you didnt buy a ticket for the child they will put it below in the cargo. It does not count against the 20kg allowance.

You will not be allowed to have the seat strapped in on the plane it will have to go under luggage. Your baby will have to sit on your lap during the flight but the attendant will give u a special seatbelt that clips around them and then to your seatbelt. Enjoy your holiday :)

There's no need to waste on luggage allowance.

Say that you have a baby with you when you book your seat and ask for a baby seat on the plane.

If you're planning to hire a car, ask for a baby car seat. Most major car hire companies have this option at extra cost.

You can take it with you, but carseats are almost always too big to fit in an overhead compartment or under a seat, so you'll have to check it. Most airlines allow two checked bags per passenger, though, so you're probably fine.

You can check a car seat and a stroller as baggage. and they will let you carry on a diaper bag along with a carry on for your child too at most airlines (delta did so for me)

Go to your airlines website and look for baggage rules it should be listed there. That is where I found the info when I flew with my son.

If the child is an infant or toddler, you take it on the plane and strap the child in the carseat, as you would in the car. It is perfectly allowable and the child will likely sleep better on the plane if strapped into his or her carseat, which is familiar to him or her.
