thats a picture of it, its about 6 weeks old, and is a tree that just started growing in our back garden, in the northwest of england. any ideas of what it could be? the picture's big, so you can see the leaves properly. (there are also small trees on either side, don't confuse the middle one with them)

It is an ash tree. Probably the common ash but it's too young to tell whether it may be a weeping ash (though not very likely!) As it's a seedling, it still hasn't developed the full number of leaflets on each leaf. You will probably find a mature tree close by which, at this time of year, will have bunches of green 'keys' hanging from it. These are the seeds and will be carried by the wind (as yours was) for maybe up to 50 yards from the tree.

It's botanical name is Fraxinus excelsior. Pictures and details here:

It will grow to 60 to 80 feet but it can be coppiced and is a common hedgerow plant.

The wood is used for making handles of implements such as spades, forks, rakes and scythes since it is a flexible wood.

ash tree plant well away from buildings can grow 4 to 5 feet each year and the leaves fall off in september /october goodluck

I'm not really sure. Isn't it Schissandra chinensis??? -it's a plant of traditional Chinese medicine. It's taken for good mental health and rise your mind.
