In my lifetime I have seen very good and very poor presidents. But I have never seen such high levels of personal animosity expressed toward a president as has been witnessed in the case of George Bush. Why is that?

Liberals have no answers so their only alternative is to bash Bush. What do you think about the immigration problem? We don't know but we hate Bush. What should we do about better education? We don't know but Bush is an idiot. What should we do to keep America safe from terrorists? We don't know but Bush is a jerk. Come on Libs, give us some thoughts or solutions and maybe we'll listen and consider them. I am an Independent so give me something, anything, to think about. and maybe i'll vote for you.

I truly believe that we have taken this whole presidency personally since the recount. When you combine the fact that we had 4 questionable years, gas prices rising, men and women dying every day abroad, many people wondered what the President might have been standing to lose or (gain) on a personal level by the 2004 election. Many people chose not to vote for him again, or at all for a second time either. He took office again, but barely. He is a President for the rich, and the rich only, and not even all the wealthy like him anymore.

Because George Bush won the election in 2000 when the Democrats believed they should have. The Democrats believed their poll numbers and it was a shock to them to have to deal with the truth-- America indeed did not want to continue the lies and deception of the Clinton adminstration in one Al Gore.

Bush is a Republican. Democrats don't like Republicans because they tell the truth. The Democrats have gotten along for years by telling lies to the people about how good life is under them. Well, income taxes were 4% in 1954 when the Democrats took over Congress. They were 40% in 1994 when the Republicans took over. That's good? I think not...

George Bush puts his money where his mouth is. He means what he says and says what he means. Clinton was just lipservice-- he said what his audience wanted to hear and never really did anything. Clinton was all PR; just an empty suit. Foreign governments liked Clinton because they knew he was nothing more than talk.

Hmm....good question.

Well personally, I disagree with nearly every policy that Bush has, whether it is the environment, women's rights, social programs, healthcare, war, you name it. I feel that the only good thing he has accomplished is the creation of the National Monument (Marine preserve) in Hawaii. But besides the policies:

I think that nepotism (like the fact that he got into Yale with a C average because of his name, or that he appoints incompetent people to important positions b/c of personal connections) in a society like ours that values hard work may be a reason why people don't like him. He doesn't represent the American Dream that if you come from nothing and work hard you can make it to the top. (Actually he's made it harder for normal everyday people to live the American Dream...)

Secondly, I want someone intelligent, well-reasoned, eloquent, thoughtful, and diplomatic to be my President and be the face of the United States to the rest of the world, and Bush has yet to exhibit any of those traits. To me, he seems arrogant, corrupt, simple-minded, and he cannot think in nuances, only in extremes and in black and white. That's why I dislike the man so much, and I don't think (sadly) the Democratic Party has anything better to offer us.

Americans know that presidents don't make policies or decisions alone, but with the events that have transpired through the years, such as the handling on the war in Iraq and Hurricane Katrina, it is hard not to point fingers. Unfortunately, we point fingers to the commander and chief of our country. We are only human.

Because its his vision that he is imposing upon the Republican party, he is person who has ultimate say over all decisions. Thus, the actions of the American Gov are all attributed to him. He is responsible and in charge of these actions. So pulling out of the Kyoto aggreement, cutting finiance from abortion clinics, refusing the give same-sex couples equal rights and invading two countries and causing international resentment with his arrogent, imperialistic foreign policy in the world, cause people to treat him with personal animosity.

For me personally I know about the National Guard string pulling. Some poor sob was pushed back down off the waiting list.

I know Sid Bass saved his *** and his political future by cleaning up the fraud charges against him and his oil company.

I know about the distortions of the public school records in Texas to make Bush look better.

My friend, I've got to head off to work now. my list could go on and on but I've got bills to pay.

As to his politics, corruption is never excusable in time of war or not.

Because the politics of the Democratic party are most effective in a slander mode. When they talk about policy they lose, but when they attack personally they feel and do better. It is a strategy of last resort that they have been employing for a long time.

I don't hate him, but I am antagonistic toward him.

"Antagonism ... quickly results in active resistance, opposition, or contentiousness."

He has a huge problem admitting mistakes, but is quick to take credit (Mission Accomplished-NOT!) for actions when it suits his purpose.

He screwed up a lot senior citizens with his Medicare reform, plunged us into an unnecessary and unwinnable war, depleted the national treasury, put obstacles in the way of stem cell research, allowed torture of war captives, and constantly usurps the power of congress.

If Lincoln was one of our greatest presidents, Bush is his complete opposite, who divides rather than unites.
