I thought so 2, but then I thought about the fact that language is always changing and developing. We dont speak or write in an old english style anymore, do we? We dont say ye or thou.

Yes - your last sentence is similar to what I've seen too. But I also know there are children on here who can't spell too well - and people from other countries trying their best (got to give them credit - but then again, if they read stuff like your last sentence depicts, they may think that is the way to write English). I will admit, I am on here at work and may make typos sometimes - not using spell check because I AM in a hurry (and trying not to get caught LOL). You R right (ha ha) .

I am very concerned with the way people write today. I taught junior high english for two years and it amazes me the way (I believe) technology has completely made today's students unaware of their errors in spelling and grammar. I would have students who would not capitalize "I" when talking about themselves. In essays I saw things like LOL and @. I agree, it is one thing to use the shorthand symbols for text messages, instant messages, and even informal emails, but I think that all of these things are winning out over what is proper. It's very sad.

You'd better believe it. I grade standardized tests for different states (for students), and the spelling is terrible. Even though the kids know the section they are answering is for grammar, they use that type of spelling all the time. It's like they think that type of spelling is correct now.

For sure it does because when you write a message you doint have to worry about spelling or grammar mistakesand you go on with that and got used to this since we are all the time sending messages bit when you need to write a formal text you will find yourself shitting.

When I text, I spell all of the words out correctly. I can't stand the so called "text language" that a lot of people use. It's ignorant and annoying, plus difficult to read.
