About 6 months ago, my penis became sort of scaly and flaky and a reddish color. It gave off a bad odor. I tried cleaning it and discovered that the skin was peeling. I peeled some of the skin and a couple days later it went back to normal. THis has not happened again since.

Well, it went away after a few days and hasn't happened again...It didn't hurt at all either. PLus it couldn't have been an STD. Never had sex.

Whatever you did 6 months ago, I hope you don't do it again. Peeling is not normal. You should have gone to your doctor. It's fortunate that it didn't fall off! Remember: If you take care of it, it will take care of you.

scaling penile skin has several causes and sexually transmitted diseases are not the top of the list.
* reaction to a medication (fixed drug eruption)
- were you on a new medication?
* autoimmune condition (psoriasis for example)
- Have you had any similar skin condition elsewhere on your body?
* fungal infection - tinea cruris is usually most intense in the groin but can affect the skin at the base of the penis. Did you use any anti-fungal cream or powder like nystatin?
- You really should see a physician.

It is not normal. Please do not feel shy and show immediately to a STD(Sexually transmitted disease) specialist Doctor. Do not delay. It may be nothing but it may be something very serious also. So go immediately to the Doc.
