Do they really act a lot to try and get as many free kicks and penalties as they can??? Eventhough they're just acting???

As was the case in England VS Portugal and France VS Portugal??

i think nowadays most players try to dive to influence the ref to either yellow/red card the opposing player or get a penalty.

after the zidane precedent a lot of player will try more outrageous play to fall ball on this new precedent.

coming back to portugal, i think ronaldo's the one who loves to act!

ok well im a portugal fan all the way (VIVA PORTUGAL!!!) and to tell you the truth, jes they do throw themselves, but so does everyone else...france did a lot of diving throughout the game too and henry's dive caused them to get a penalty kick and win the game...and plus people get on portugal too much and complain how they are all actors but if you really look at the world cup replays, there are a WHOLE BUNCH of teams that are worse then portugal and that push people like crazy but no one gets on them?...in soccer, diving is normal because of course you want the free kick and fouls against the other team...but also very bad because if you fake it them you can get a card and sent off the feild or something (it depends on the ref)...no one can blame portugal for exaggerating a little bit because if they do blame portugal and practically hate them , then they should hate all the other teams too...plain and simple...

VIVA PORTUGAL!!!

I think there should be a 5 minute penalty for fighting like hockey. Then you could get some hockey player (you know the sport that employs men) to tune up these fruitcakes whenever they pull their little baby acts or over-celebrate a goal. I assure you, these pussbags would learn pretty quick. Too bad Rooney didn't thump that little **** on the spot. And I'm not from England and I assure you there's nothing about Portugal I'm jealous about.

Well it used to b Italy that dived all the time but now that role has bin taken over by Portugal.

You can tell if a team is diving and tries to get free kicks and pens coz if they look towards the ref then they want a free kick or pen

a bunch of countries do more than others. usually the main offenders for diving, in my opnion, are spain and portugal. italy overexagerates their pain, but they are usually knocked when they take it, as are the english. the argentines can be dirty sometimes, the germans and americans rarely, though most players have embellished at the very least at some point in their career. it is bs, but at least the players can be booked for diving and dissension if they are too flagrant about it.

That's a bit unfair - most of their players are decent sportsmen and have good ethics. One or two go to ground too easily, pretend they are hurt, and ask for other players to get booked - but on the whole no. It's the usual story of one or two giving the rest a bad name. Of course, I am English so may be a little biased in my reply.

Hell, yes. They didn't win the World Cup, but they certainly won Best Dramatic Performances by a Midfielder, Striker and Fullback in a Supporting Role!!

They don't dive and act any more than the next team. It's all a dirtty campaign, and the English people are so naive and easy to manipulate that they buy it immediatly. Besides, they need a convenient scapegoat to hide the fact that their soccer stinks.

no. the only people who say that portugal cheats are england fans who are pissed that their teams sucks and lost.

portugal has great players like figo, deco, maniche, simao sabrosa...and others...they deserved to get as far as they did.
